Weight is Just a Dumb Number!

I joined a gym about 6 weeks ago and got two free personal training sessions. The trainer told me not to worry about the scale... instead watch my measurements. Yeah right.... I have always watched the scale. It's how I knew it was time to join a gym in the first place!

Well now that I'm 6 weeks in, I get it. I have actually GAINED TWO pounds since I've started my weight training (3 days a week) and cardio routine (4 days a week). At first I was frustrated, but then really took a look in the mirror... I have definition in my arms, legs, and most exciting, my abs! I still have to loose a lot of fat, but the trainer explained that I am building muscle faster than I am burning fat and to adjust my calorie intake from 1600/day to 1100/day and I should start to see the fat melt away!

I have always yo-yo dieted and lost weight in the past.... but this is the first time in a long time that I actually feel fit too! And the trainer was correct... my measurements are shrinking! So far just 1/2" around my hips but that's the largest part of me, so I am beyond excited! Who cares what the scale says as long as I keep feeling this good!!! emoticon
