Sunday, Sept. 26 - I fought the Chinese Buffet and won!
Monday, September 27, 2010
Just had the type of weekend I love...visiting family and not having to cook. Of course, that meant dining out and lots of temptations. Alas, no fear....advance planning to the rescue.
I knew we would be dining out for lunch; most likely at at a Chinese Buffet. Ohhhh....the endless choices. I think if you were to put one spoonful of everything they offer on your plate, you would need 10 plates.
I decided, before I even put my foot in the door, exactly what I was going to have....Mongolian BBQ. I marched directly back to that station and started filling my plate with fresh mushrooms, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, onions and a few slices of turkey and beef and then instructed the chef to use "good for me" oils and seasonings. Mmmmm....it smelled so good cooking on that grill. On the way to my table, I stopped by the boiled shrimp station and put 5 of the cold peel and eat shrimp on my plate and added two yellow cherry tomatoes. And then to make sure I didn't feel deprived, I added two slices of my favorite....peanut chicken. I just love the creamy peanut taste along with the crunchiness. I happily watched the others eat dessert....knowing that I was full, satisfied, and guilt-free!

As ever, enjoying the journey!
