Just have a salad

Planning is actually becoming an integral part of my life....and it's about time! The group of ladies that I lunch with each month decided to go to Mimi's Cafe. When I told my friends that I was trying to eat healthy, they told me that Mimi's has lots of good salads so I can "just have a salad". True...but, according to the nutrition info on their website, most are loaded with calories. The smaller salads are in the 300 range but I think that is without adding meat. Eating salads as a meal has been my downfall in the past. I used it is an excuse to eat a forbidden treat....or 2 or 3 or 5....justifying it by telling myself, "I just had a salad for lunch". Unbeknownst to me, sometimes thoses salads probably had anywhere from 800 to 1500 calories.
So I perused the menu, and decided to have the hummus sampler....two different types of hummus, flatbread wedges, and cucumbers. It was satisfying and took a long time to eat. It had 494 calories....but I didn't eat even half of the hummus. I am counting that as 2 snacks and only had a yogurt for breakfast so that keeps me right on track to not exceed 1200 cals. today.
