Where's My Appetite?

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Well, I could've written sooner but seems like I have not had the time to dedicate to the blog. Finally, I have broken through my stall which lasted about 6 weeks and have begun to lose again. Whew! It was tough-going for a minute.

Of late, I am having trouble eating. (Solve one issue, here comes a new one!) Don't feel I have much of an appetite, though there are moments I feel really hungry. Food is not so appealing and the old standbys are not appealing lately. I'm assuming that this, too, shall pass, but in the meantime, I'll just note it in writing.

Now stepping up my exercise quotient is a priority. I have never liked it -- still don't -- and despite rare moments when I have and felt really good when exercising, when starting anew it's not so easy to drum up the motivation to get going. Happy am I that I can stand and walk for longer periods than before my total weight loss, but it's almost as if someone was pulling me back I have such an aversion to moving my body (like you cannot get on that treadmill, bike, etc.). I'd sure appreciate any advice from those who have had to conquer the inertia, procrastination, lack of motivation, and etc., about getting started.

I'm a big fan of walking myself. I take my dog, my ipod, and power walk anywhere from 20-40 minutes a time depending on how fast I feel like moving. It's something I do daily for my pup so that's motivating because I don't want to let him down, and I like being outside as well, especially this gorgeous time of year.

Anyway you can find a walking buddy? Someone who you won't want to let down and will motivate you to move even when you don't want to?

After I returned from a trip back to "home" to visit family, where I DID exercise with daily walks and bike rides along the lake path, I came back to the Summer HEAT that is AZ and just could not get motivated to exercise. Suddenly it was time to get back to setting up the classroom and I said to myself, "That is enough. Tomorrow you are going to start exercising again." Oct. 1 will be Day 50 of my personal exercise streak.

So, my very humble advice would be to set a date (tomorrow, Sat., Sun., or Mon.) and tell yourself that is the day you will start to set a streak!!! Once you start a streak it is HARD to stop!!!! If you are the kind of person who has to get straight As in your masters program like I was! (My friend is working on her masters right now and we joke about how we can't take it if we don't get As).

My blog today was titled Size 14 because I am going to buy size 14 pants today. I am so excited. So, get back to exercise and try to eat some healthy food even if you are not hungry. I've been eating squash lately. I love it!

Welcome back to the track. Perhaps God is changing your appetites more toward the healthy. It is weird after a lifetime of every thing tasting good isn't it. Keep up the good work. You and God can do this. emoticon
