That Pesky Bug is Gone.!!
Sunday, October 03, 2010
After five days of contending with this flu like bug, it is gone. I waited till I had ate and let time pass to see how I felt, it's good. No more nausea, clammy feeling. So it has finally run it's course. Thank God.
I went to bed at 7:00 last night, didn't eat much, just sleepy. Woke up at 1:30am, felt hungry.
I usually have a rule no kitchen trips after 9:00pm. But this time I made an exception. I ate a piece of cold red snapper and a few bites of fresh cut up peaches. Felt OK. Tummy had a little rumbles, but everything stayed put. Watched the live Ryder Cup from Wales. It's a golf
tournament between the American team of golfers and the Europeans. But it was raining in Wales, so they were showing Saturdays play. Since I had already seen most of that. I channel surfed , couldn't find much. So I went back to sleep at 3:00am.
Woke up at my usual time 6:00am. Good, now the live play has resumed and I root for the American Team. They are not doing very good, down in points.
Watching the people standing out side in the wet, rainy weather, I realized I am not a die hard fan. If I can't see it in the comfort of my nice dry home, forget it.
Later I watched my favorite cooking shows.
Got the idea to make baked eggs on spinach for Sunday Brunch. Now I have to be feeling good. I only cook when I am feeling good, rested and happy. I love to cook at times, my time.
Cooking has always been a stress reliever for me. That was fine when I had family or friends to cook for. But if just myself, not so good. No one to eat the food but me and that is not good. So now I try to cook one or two serving foods. Can still be creative and good to eat.
Brunch turned out very nice. Ate with gusto.
I thawed some ex-large shrimp to cook in hot pepper infused olive oil with garlic, served over a bed of baby spinach, with cucumber and tomatoes, red onions.. That will be my supper. With cold watermelon cubes, for dessert.
Oh, yeah, I'm feeling much better.
Thought I might mention to all those who have given up food items. Like me, you have probably been saving some on your grocery bill. I gave up the two and three loves of bread and package of butter spread per week. So instead of spending money on that I buy some items for the Food Bank. It can be some canned goods, boxed items. peanut butter, jams, pancake mix. Some times I buy at the regular store I am shopping at, . But once a month I go to the Grocery Outlet, food much cheaper, and stock up for the Food Bank.
Right now in the hard economic times this country is going through, it more important than ever to give if you can. Not just at the holiday time, but year round. Remember this country has an abundance of food, no one should go hungry. Restaurants flaunt huge serving of food
each one trying to out do the other on who has the biggest fattest portion. We can't do much about the restaurants, but we can give from our own home.
Please do what you can.
Oh I usually give dog food too, not canned, don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. But bags of dry food. Many people having a hard time have a pet that might need some food too.
Here's a quote from a women I admire. "Service means you get as well as you give, your life is changed as you change the lives of others. In a way we find meaning in our lives, both individually and collectively" Hillary Clinton.
Peace and Love.
