Challange: Go out and tell one person what you are doing and how

Monday, October 04, 2010

I am finding that one of the things that helps me is that I am sharing more about what I am doing with people. I tell at least one person a day about this journey and sometimes confide in how hard it can be. Most of us are in the same boat with our looks, weight and goals. Most everybody has something they want to do better and it's amazing how sharing with people can help motivate to you or them to that. It also makes me accountable that I have put it out there. Most of the people I talk with are people that I know at some point will ask me how I am doing and you can bet I am going to want to be able to say I am doing GREAT! So this is a small way that helps me to stay accountable to myself to reach the goals I have put in place.

Today I was lucky and ended up sharing with a group of people what I am doing. People around me are starting to notice and want to know what I am doing. So go out there and get started having a conversation telling what you are doing. You will also get some great tips along the way and your way of thinking may change as you listen to what others are doing or have tried.

I think you were smart in waiting--you wanted to show that it does work! And they have to be ready to hear the message, just like you were. No guilt; no regets; just move forward! That's what we say about a slip up, so we can say that about spreading the spark, too! You go girl!

Exactly. My doctor did not know of sparkpeople and took the information at my last bloodwork as she wanted to share with her other patients. I heard about this page through a lady at the goodwill store who was talking to some other ladies. If I could take back one thing though it would be that I didn't start talking sooner. I have heavy friends and aquaintences that I procrastinated in sharing with because I wanted to be able to back up what I was saying. In retrospect that was a little selfish

Great job! I don't get it done EVERY day, but quite often! Even talked to a local Dr. who flies at the airport where I work. I love when medical personnell take note of Sparkpeople, 'coz I figure they are talking to patients everyday who they could pass the spark on to. Woo hoo!
