Walking, Walking, Walking, and more Walking

I am getting in the spirit of the WALK! I have progressively gone from only walking a few feet to walking over a mile a day and not using the electric carts at the store. My feet hurt but they are happy feet. It has been a long time coming and I am happy to do the walking.

Today my hip was hurting while I was walking and it sent me to the chiropractor. He put my hip back in place and the walking continued. I am loosing weight but I need to get my walking up to about 5 miles a day to be completely where I was two years ago before I got too fat to walk.

I think I am getting better at this game of weight management.

    My hips always hurt when I walk too but it is a good hurt. Yesterday I did not walk and my whole body hurt from sitting on the couch watching Netflix movies most of the day. I also walk just a bit over a mile each day around my neighborhood. To add distance, I just walk to the next street and then every few days I add one more street. I take different directions and slowly add a different street in different directions. I use the map route to track the distance I walk. When I got to the stores I try to make a point of walking through every isle or through entire store and make sure I wear my pedometer so that I can track the mileage. I still have not made it to the suggested 10,000 steps a day, but have at least gotten into the 9,000's on some days. emoticon emoticon

    You are doing amazing! What great progress you've made.

    When I was having a lot of foot pain after walking, I would lie on the floor on my back and with my knees bent. Then I would pick up one leg clasp my hands behind that thigh and make circles in the air with my foot. 30 circles clockwise, then 30 cirles counter-clockwise. Then switch feet. It really helped to make the pain go away quicker.

    The pain, for me, did eventually lessen as I've been dropping weight and now I can go pretty far, pretty fast and have no pain. Keep working on it because you will get there. Consistency is key!

    YAY! That's terrific progress. One way to increase your mileage is to take one walk in the morning and another in the evening. That way you don't get too sore and tired from one long walk. Just stretching your walk a bit each day really adds up!
