Saturday: Most know that I had to call 911 because my mom was having a soreness in her chest. They said she had an irregular heart beat and left the decision up to us to take her to the hospital. I said 'yes', as the doctor isn't in on the weekend if mom got worse.
They even let me ride to the hospital in the ambulance.
After beng in the ER for ....oh about a zillion years, they said they had to put a cathiter in her.
Me: 'Then I guess we aren't going home soon?'
Nurse: 'No, she's being admitted.' Me. Oh
The guy who came in to do something on the computer said she had congested heart failure.
They gave me her room number and reminded me to return the door key and get my drivers license at the desk (they took my license and gave me a electronic key to get in and out of the ER).
I returned and made my way to the other side of the hospital, turned on the tv and was reading my book before they finally rolled her in the room.
Must have taken a lunch break on way over. lol
Mom had a miserable day but it wasn't her chest that was hurting, neck hurt. She couldn't get comfortable. By the time I was leaving in the evening the nurse said she was about to give her some meds. I called later and she was sleeping.
Sunday: I made it in time for her breakfast. Thankgoodness, she couldn't feed herself in the position she was it.
Mom was suppose to get physical therapy, which I was glad, but the doctor came in and said she didn't have congested heat failure, he thinks it is a muscle thing to contact mom's lung doctor when she gets out. Also said he was releasing her that day.
After laying in bed a day and a half, wouldn't you think they would test her out to see how well she was getting around? Nahhhhh!
The ambulande let me ride home with them...in fact I had to direct them home. It was the All County Ambulance and she didn't know her way to my side of town. Eh...what next?
She walked a little bit, but when I put her to bed in the evening, around 1:00, She couldn't get her right leg to work. I had her about a foot from her chair (lift chair which she sleeps in), Now what can I do. She was bent over the walker and her hand was slipping down to the silver part. I yelled for my husband....no sound. I got her to stay still and got the phone to call intercom. Nothing. Eh!
I got the potty chair for mom to sit on and went to the bedroom.
"Jim, Jim". I moved his foot...nothing. What now, I have two patience?
He finally woke up and helped me get mom into her chair.
I'm ticked with the hospital. If they would have checked her out more before checking her out of the hosp, they'd have known to keep her or put her in rehab.
Today I had a problem again, but luckily the nurse was coming over.
Oh yeah, forgot. The nurse from home therapy came buy to do the paper work on Sunday and said she'd be by next day, Monday.
She's getting in touch with the physical therapist to see if she can come today to evaluate her and see what can be done. Can she do enough with mom at home so I can handle her or recommend to the doc for rehab (if that is possible). I don't know if she can go into rehab after coming home first.
At least there they have the people and machinery needed to get her back into somewhat shape so I can handle her.
It would mean I'd be going there everyday. One care so dh would have to drive me and pick me up later.
I hate the thoughts that we may have to start looking into nursing homes. I was hoping that wouldn't come until she lost her mind. She always said she didn't want to go to a nursing home, so depressing. Also, I've heard that they don't get the attention they need like feeding them on time. Just bring her tray and leave it. I've heard stories.
