The Comfort of My Home
Tuesday, November 30, 2010
I love to travel. There is a wanderlust in my soul. But I am always happy to come back home. Walking into my own home, with it's smells, familiarity and comfort is so reassuring. My dog Titan goes form room to room sniffing and checking things out. He wants to be sure everything is as he left it.
I go straight to my bedroom, dump my bags , lay down on my bed and feel my head sink into my pillow and think how nice it will be to sleep in my own bed.
It's something how we get used to certain comforts. Strange beds, pillows, even sharing beds can disrupt our sleep. One gets set in certain ways and routines.
I enjoyed my time at the coast. The house over there is warm, has a fireplace.
Very cosy. Love to look out on the ocean.
There was enough breaks in the weather to walk on the beach.
Jim has a dog ,Buddy , who gets along with Titan very well.
We took the dogs out for nice walks and play time.
We had crates with us so in the car they could ride and stay while we store browsed. Then bring them out for more walking.
If it has been summer we could have eaten out with them with us but Oregon has a law no dogs inside food establishments. It's not like some other places that allow dogs in. So since the weather was cold we chose to have most of our meals back at the house.
Hot home made clam chowder and tuna melts , that I made were better than any restaurant food. That was Saturday lunch. Fried oysters for dinner.
Since we had both survived the Thanksgiving day of feasting without any over doing, we didn't want to spend the weekend just eating. And believe me it could happen, So I planned on healthy meals for both of us.
I have some of my jewelry in a couple of gift stores at the coast.
I had some new bracelets to drop off, at one store..
While taking care of business, Jim looked around the store. He called me over to see a necklace that he admired. Asked me if I like it. i told him it was beautiful.
He said I thought you would like it, I have seen you ware turquoise and this just seems to have your name on it. I want to get it for you.
I told him that's great but it should have my name on it since I made it. It's one of my pieces. He was surprised. We had never really talked about my jewelry line and he had never seen any of my work.
He looked at some other pieces, noticed another necklace ., Wanted to know if it was mine, I said, no, but it is beautiful. Handmade beads, something I seldom do.. He seemed happy. I would not be surprised to see it as a present in my future. I would love it too. Just a piece that I would ware.
Women are so easy to buy gifts for. We like jewelry, scarves, candy, flowers.
Men are harder to buy for. There are gloves, books, sweaters. Oh maybe not.
When i get to thinking about it. Might get Jim a book for his Kindle.
I started out by saying how nice it was to be home.
Sunday night I sleep like a dream.
I woke up refreshed and ready to get to work.
Good thing I did, was very busy in the office and catching up on all my personal business.
I have different craft items at Holiday Gift shows for the seasonal shows.
Last week one show called and they had sold almost all items. I had to rush others items over there so to have more to sell.
Good thing I have a computer to keep track of all the inventory .
Last week my dietitian decided that I needed more daily calories in my meals.
I had told her how tired I had been everyday.
Seems I was excersing and burning up over 1100 calories a day, more than I was eating. So my daily intake has gone up to 1200 calories.
It will take a little time for my body to adjust to the increase. So I might have a week or so with not much weight loss. Plus I am building muscle with all the weight training and muscle weighs more so, I have to be patient.
I did not want the increase to happen till after the New Year. I had planned to be below 200 on January 1st, 2011. Not sure if I will make it. But I am still trying. I have 10 pounds to go.
I mentioned to Jim that it doesn't seem like Xmas unless there is snow. So he said lets go somewhere there's snow. He is making all the arrangements.
I told him Titan has to be included. He said for sure the dogs will enjoy Xmas with us. He said he will let me know where we are off to in a couple of weeks.
Plenty of time for me to get ready. Might have to shop for a few items.
We are closing the business from Dec. 20 thru Jan. 1st. So I have plenty of time to get away.
I wonder if I should take my own pillow? Smile!
Don't laugh, back a long time ago, when I traveled a lot, I did carry my own pillow
Never mind that I worked for one of the most famous chains with hotels all over the world. I had to have my own pillow.
Well it's time for me to get with the program. I have an hour of strength training yet to do. I have already walked 2 miles on the Nordic Trainer.
I'm sipping on a 52% protein fruit shake. That's breakfast. Muscle building protein.
My size 18's are getting loose. Good I bought 16's to have on hand. Can't wait till I have to get 12's or 10's. That day is just around the corner. Smile!!
To all my Spark friends, it's one day at a time. Never give in , never give up.
Think positive each and every day.
Spark on!!
Peace and Love,
Tisha
