Healthy Thursday

Thursday, January 06, 2011

Not much to report today....all went well.
The sun was shining and it was in the 50's.....

I have gotten a few messages from people who are giving Sparkpeople a second chance and need a lot of encouragement...I know the pain of loosing the weight just to gain it back.. and wow it seems to come back twice as fast as it comes off....wonder why that is...
Our bodies sure are wondrous machines, I still have not gotten my figured out, seems just when I thought I did it changes on me.....I still need encouragement. think we all do ..just because you reached your goal, doesn't mean you can just stop

I do admit I'm less stressed over the daily ups and downs....for the most part I'm holding my own, no real secret, just keep eating healthy and exercising most days...

well have a healthy friday and week end.

You can be your own best friend, have positive thoughts...tell your self you can do it, believe in your self.....and YOU will do it

emoticon good for you with the chocolate this week. there is a lesson there. when you were shopping with the girls, did you used to get chocolate treats? we used to go get 2 pieces+ as a special treat, but my point is, thinking back... did the activity trigger an old habit/urge? did it surface on top of a craving you were already having? When I quit smoking, it seemed like the 1st time (or several) that I did something since I had to quit... always triggered a strong urge to smoke, even more than a year later, like when we were all packed up to go camping and we climbed into the truck, and I was hit with the strongest urge to smoke & couldn't figure out why? well, that's usually because we always lit one up as we pulled out. That camping trip triggered all sorts of urges to smoke around the campfire, after meals & activities... I was surprised.... And the lesson is, you were spot on... if you push through, the urge will pass.... and the less you act on the urge when it strikes, the more it will recede until it is no longer your first thought, and your new activities/patterns are your first thought.

and you're so right too about another thing... that if you do go back, the old patterns come right back... there is a thing about learning/habits I've been reading that is especially true with addictions (applies to me, not trying to say it does you, just sharing).... that the old pathways in the brain are still there and return very easily... and with addicted people, that is why they can fall right back into the addiction as soon as 2 bites, 3 days, 5 days... just depends on the person....

and i don't know why it is but I gain so much faster than I lose... never seems fair, does it?

well, 'nuff chat for now. u r doing so well my friend, learning more all the time! Spark on!

    You are doing great!!!!

As I read your post, something hit me. You are absolutely right in the importance of positive thoughts and telling yourself that you can do it. What hit me is that there is one more step required: we have to LISTEN. When we tell ourselves that we can do something, the next step is to listen to what we're saying. Otherwise it becomes like that question, "If a tree falls in a forest and no one's around to hear it, did it make a sound?"

Time for me to turn up my hearing aids. emoticon

    Here's to a healthy Friday!!

Kitt glad I took the time to find your blogs again...sparks was screwed up so lost your blogs ..

true we will be on this journey for life..

but I have faith in you --staying here on Sparks is a good thing to maintain..

yes it is so hard for us all -the ones who lose then gain it back then some or the ones that nearly make it to goal and give up...

You are a great motivational person with great advice so you will be a busy gal the next few weeks ...let's just hope they will see it through to goal and then stay to maintain...

    thanks for being you
