HAD A POLYP SCARE

Monday, January 17, 2011

I HAD A COLONOSCOPY LAST WEEK AND THE GASTRO DOC FOUND A POLYP AND SOME INTERNAL HEMORRHOIDS--SO THE POLYP WAS BIOPSIED AND I JUST GOT A LETTER TODAY AND THE DOCTOR SAID THAT THE POLYP WAS BENIGN AND I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER COLONOSCOPY (HAVE HAD 4 ALREADY OVER THE PAST 10 YRS AND ENDOs)
FOR 5 YRS--SO I WAS HAPPY AND I DID NOT WORRY ABOUT IT--i HAVE BEEN WORKING RELLY HARD TO STAY POSITIVE AND PUSH THINGS OUT OF MIND TO WORRY ABOUT AND LEAVE IT IN GODS COMPLETE HANDS.. THO I DO HAVE MY SLIP UPS--BUT HAVE GOTTEN MYSELF BACK ON TRACK..
MY WEIGHT CONTINUES TO GO UP AND DOWN--MOSTLY DUE TO FLUID RETENTION FROM MY KIDNEY DISEASE--BUT I AM DOING WHAT I CAN DO TO GET TO MY GOAL AND I PRAY THAT I GET THERE SOMEDAY.. LOSING OVER 200 LBS IS GREAT AND I AM TRULY HAPPY ABOUT THAT-THE LOOSE SKIN IS IRRITATING --BUT THATS LIFE..
I AM STILL MISSING MY LUCY--MY 3 YR OLD CAT WHO WE HAD TO PUT TO SLEEP 2 MONTHS AGO--BUT I LOVE MY OTHER CATS JUST AS MUCH AND THEY KEEP ME HANGING IN THERE.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS AND INSPIRATIONS AND MOTIVATIONS I LOVE U SPARK PEOPLE ! THANK U TO THOSE WHO HAVE SAID THAT I AM AN INSPIRATION TO THEM--THAT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD TO KNOW THAT I HAVE HELPED YOU KEEP ON KEEPING ON....
BIG HUGS AND I PRAY THAT U ALL ARE HAVING A GREAT NEW YEAR 2011 ! emoticon emoticon

I scheduled a colonoscopy for April 25th of this year and unbelievably the doctor already called in my prescriptions for prepping.....Now everytime I look in my box of prescriptions...there it is...at least I won't forget to prep......

I am glad for your good news.... I just had a colonoscopy 3 years ago and even though it was a negative polyp, the doctor insisted on a follow-up in only 3 years..... and time flies when we're having fun!!! emoticon

I'm glad you got some good news... but I'm surprised that the doctor said you didn't need another colonoscopy. My understanding was that once a suspect polyp is found, benign or not, you are put on a high risk list and should be screened more regularly--on a permanent basis. Hm...

Granted colonoscopies are not much fun, but they can save your life, I know from personal experience!

I DO know exactly how much of a relief it is to know you don't have to worry--for a while anyway-- but please do some research--even SP has articles on this--and make sure you get the testing you should be getting. Regular colonoscopies can save you a lot of trouble if you're prone to polyps, and a good digestive health specialist can remove polyps during the exam, like yours apparently did, often before they become tumors. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I had to, for lack of a relatively simple procedure. Not fun, I'll grant you that LOL...

    ...but so worth it...

Aren't you glad you did that? It's so much better to know and have a life to celebrate!

Congrats on the weight loss and the attitude! LOVE it! LOL

Hi Susie, how scary. When I turned 50 my family doctor asked me if I wanted a Colonoscopy ? Yes,why of course,NOT! I did the specimen on the paper test and depending on the results,I will know if I need to have this done yet.Is it as bad as I think it is? I am so happy for you, your tests came back benign. You are a strong inspirational person with a positive outlook. emoticon emoticon Diana

Very happy to hear that the polyp was benign. Hope the rest of the year is a little less eventful.
I've heard that the loose skin does tighten up some but it takes time, until then I'll put up with being annoyed.

    Hi Susie,

So great that your polyp was benign. I wish that they could give those results right away so patients don't have so much time to worry!

    You are an inspiration.
