Back to the Spark

Saturday, January 22, 2011

I admit it, my first attempt at sparkpeople was a failure made from birthday cake and a lack of internal motivation and willpower.

Now two years later, I'm back to it and off to a much better start.

I've been doing this for 2 and a half weeks now. I started out on day one at 190lbs.

First week weigh in was 187.6

Second week weigh in was 184.3

Truthfully I was terrified of that second weigh in! I though for sure the first weigh in had been a fluke and the second was going to tell me the truth that I hadn't lost any weight at all. I breathed a sigh on relief when I saw it go down again.

I think I will continue to be nervous about that number of the scale until I see the number go down for several weeks more. I might then really believe I am making a difference!

I know however I need to check other factors besides just the weight number. So I'm also taking checking my BMI number weekly and will start measuring inches around several major body parts (hips, waist, busts, thighs) so that if I reach a point where my scale number stays the same I can check for difference elsewhere as well.

I also want to pay attention to the way my clothes fit, how my body looks in the mirror, and my activity levels.

I am proud of my 6lbs of weight loss so far and am very excited and motivated to keep it up. The 20 weeks until my wedding day don't hurt as a motivator either ; )

My goal weight is 140 lbs by June 10th, 2011. Which is reasonable at approximately 2lbs a week with 20 weeks to go! Wish me willpower!
