whats good for the dog

Monday, February 21, 2011

I have recently discovered, and I wont tell you how, that my poor little dog, has a digestive problem.
So, I guess its not just us. Maybe dogs, especially little house dogs, pick up our bad habits.
Or, maybe, (i say with a red face), owners give in to their cute little faces and feed them things they shouldnt.
I have learned this lesson.
So, after some reading on the subject, I have learned, that more fiber, while good for us, isnt so great for dogs.
Soy, good for us, bad for dogs.
I have purchased snacks and dog food, with no soy and low in fiber.
My dog, isnt liking this new diet of his.
As most of us hate to eat healthy foods at first. I have to get him used to the taste.
I bought him some tablets to take to help allieviate this smelly problem, and he took one sniff and ran away.
This will be the tough part, trying to get him to take the tablets.
I know eventually he will eat the food, because he isnt getting anything else.
I hope his little system gets straightened out soon.
I also learned, that plain yogurt....good for humans, good for dogs as well.

It is amazing how feeding your dogs the right stuff will really help them. I have a 15 year old Lab back at home that still runs up and down steps and is full of energy. (deaf though)

They will eat and get to like it once their system gets used to it.

I have two little dogs and it's sometimes very frustrating to get them to eat.

Try a little olive oil on your finger and on the food. he'll taste the olive oil and your finger can bring him to the plate , he'll lick the Olive oil on the plate then hopefully eat the food.

Try KEEN. Dog food By the Honest Kitchen. For a big guy it may be pricey but for a little guy or gal it will last 6mo. (there is keen and several other kinds)

Or get a box and throw some on top of the food.

    It's great for them!
