A Rant

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Today, I was insulted by someone here in town. I don't think she realized that she was insulting me. (there I go giving the benefit of the doubt to everyone because maybe I am too nice) She said it jokingly but with an air of aloofness. We were talking about how busy we were and she said "Well, you don't work, so you must have so much free time. Must be nice to be able to sit and do nothing." HA! Boy do I wish I had free time. Between, the whining, the laundry, the picking up toys, the cooking, the cleaning, the carpooling....GAH! I would love nothing more than to have 5 minutes to myself. I am proud and enormously happy that I have gotten all of this extra time with my kids. I would not trade it for the whole world. I am in total shock that someone would say that to me. Now to work out and work off some of this frustration! GRRRR....

I have heard that so many times....even from ladies WITH kids. Even my husband will admit that I work WAY harder than he does and he works in a Steel Mill!! When he is home during the week and I let him do 'my day' he is totally worn by noon! I realized when I first started staying at home that NO ONE understands unless they are in your situation. Don't let it get you down...you know and that's all that matters. I think as SAHMs we look for outside pats on the back instead of giving it to ourselves. I'll work on that with you!!

Yes it is an insult! and her comment is just plain rude …stay at home moms’ work never ends, it is a 24/7 job. At least when I go to work I get a chance to disconnect from the mummy role, and have some adult socializing that help keep me sane.

OMG! I HATE when people are that ignorant! I don't even have kids and I have to MAKE time for myself! I still don't have time to shave my legs or do those home facial masks I love so much. Thank Goodness for good friends though. My BFF totally supports me. She understands my life and never says "well you don't work or have kids. So, all you have to do is workout and take care of yourself." Being a childless homemaker is VERY time consuming! I'm in awe of people like you! People can be so stupid. That woman just chose to show ALL her ignorance at once!!!! LOL!:)) Enjoy your children your fortunate to have them! They're a good source of exercise too! HAHA!:)) emoticon
