I'll make this short and sweet.
I have a torn muscle in my right leg, sound worse than I think it is...
Doctor wants me to do RICE .....
but said I can still do any upper body exercises that don't hurt the leg....
I'm feel a bit down about this as I'm not sure what I did wrong that would cause this and he was not sure either...Said if it's not better in a week come back and he will send me to a sports medicine place......I am not big on medication or treatments.....so I will do what he said and then do what I think is best for me.....
I will rest and ice it and keep elevated as much as possible.....it is hard for me to sit still for long....
thanks for all the concern..
I have my weights close by

my main concern is gaining weight, from eating out of boredom and lack of real exercise, cardio, walking , jogging, biking, but I do know that I have to give it time to heal.....

off I go to elevate and ice and talk with Gary.....glad it's the week end and I can go at my own pace.....

    You do what the Dr. says and get well!

    You will not gain weight while resting the leg
    you will gain if you start to go nuts on FOOD

    You will be ok Kitt, your house has only food choices that are healthy and you can sit in a chair and do upper body exercise. Also go on line to the Arthritis web site and they may have exercies that people can do in a chair.

    Glad you got the leg checked, Kitt. Repeat after me: It is okay to rest. You will not gain weight overnight if you give your leg time to heal. Girl, if you push it too hard too soon you could really injure it and be down longer. Cut yourself some slack -- practice those non-eating behaviors and let your leg heal. Yes, it's hard...and sometimes you have to do it -- same discipline you used when changing your eating habits. Listen to your doctor and listen to your body. You'll be fine in the food department, and you're not going to gain weight overnight. Deep breath...

    how about some swimming that can be done without hurting the leg ... or just floating aroung in the pool lots of arm strength their..

    Kitt, I'm glad you went to the dr. Now, you need to take his advice. You can get a good workout sitting in a chair. Take care!
