Lots to think about!

The big "melt down" is about to begin!
They say that the temperature will rise to above zero by Wednesday of this week.
I say, "It's about time!"
Last night, it went down to almost 20 Celcius--BELOW---zero--
That was very frosty looking this morning , in the dark , when I looked outside , as I "sparked" at my computer.

I always figure that summer has arrived when the snow disappears.
Some years, all our snow is gone by the end of March.
Maybe this will be one of those years---
Usually, the ice leaves the lake by the 23rd of April. There is about a week, before the ice sinks to the bpottom of the lake, where it breaks away from the shoreline, and huge long chunks of it drift around the lake. If you are close to it, you can here the ice tingle--like fine China.

Right now , we have very little snow on the roof of our home. It has mostly all melted. They predict rain by the end of this week--which means -----the ""big melt down"" might begin!

I find it amazing , how fast winter disappears, even here in the north.
With rain, and milder nights, we can see Spring in a couple of weeks , at the most.
That means walking on the back road without the ice , with my XM radio, and sometimes the Germans (as in dogs) beside me.

As I sit here typing, I even hear more birds singing outside , and soon the clock will ""Spring"" ahead.
The seasons--they are a-changing, me thinks------

An added thought , that to-morrow in International Women's Day--a good time to think of our Grandmothers, and Mothers, and how they paved the way for us.

Right now, a gal's got to do what a gal's giot to do---and that is---- get supper ready----Hopefully I can control the portions once again----
Oh man!--so much to think about!

As I went for my walk yesterday, I noticed the sidewalks starting to clear.........I miss walking on clean pavement. I hear Wednesday it's supposed to start getting warmer though!

I remember, when living in Thunder Bay, that Spring was 2 weeks long.. then Summer, around Mid-May. It was happening under all the 4-5 feet of snow.. slowly melting. The sun was always shining, and it was great to hike the trails then.. no bugs and no mud, yet!

One day it's rain, the next it's snow. We are definitely in transition. All I can say is, "Come on Spring!!!!!!!"

..and I am so ready and know you are too.

It is warmer here and the pond and lake have been thawed for about a week. We even have new baby ducks on the lake. I hope to get a photo soon.

Last night, we had just sat down to supper when I saw something moving in the woods behind the house then the movement moved out into the open field 1 deer and then 2 and then 4 and finally all together, 7 of them. It was an amazing site. I forgot about my soup and had to warm it up after our little show of nature. It was greeat. I love living in the country.

March is always a month of transition...one day it could get up to 70 and fall to the 40's...rain, snow, sleet, you name it, we got it! We usually open our cottage up the middle of May...it's on the shore of Lake Michigan...most of the ice is off the shoreline now, which is a good sign. In just the past week, the squirrels are out in force and our bird feeders are full and the dogs have their nose to the ground more than usual so spring is coming and I can't wait. Day light savings is this weekend so there will be more daylight and I'm thrilled!
