Yesterday, I went in for metabolic testing. The good thing is that my Metabolic Resting Rate is within normal limits. The frustrating thing is what my dietician told me after she looked at my last blood tests.
I've had a serious problem with retaining water for months now. The last time I saw my doctor she gave me Lasix to help get rid of some of the extra water. At this point I think she attributed the water weight to the fact that I'm overweight and my diet was high in sodium. But, it has gotten so bad over the last month that my legs hurt by the end of the day. So, after checking my legs and verifying that I am retaining water and that my legs feel cold, my dietician went through my blood work for the last 4 years. What we discovered is that although my TSH is normal the other panel that they screen for for thyroid problems has been out of whack since 2007...SERIOUSLY? My mother has hypothyroidism. Which is why I get checked every year.
She put in a whole new panel of blood work. The technician took 5 vials of blood from me. I had already been fasting for my MMR test, so she had them run blood sugar and cholestorol tests along with a new thyroid panel. The last time I had them done I hadn't fasted...
I have an appointment on Tuesday morning with one of the other doctors in the office. My doctor is out of town. I'm really hoping that we can figure out what the hell is going on. I'm tired of being tired and hurting. If there is something wrong with my thyroid I'm going to be PISSED!!! And if they tell me my TSH is normal and the other one isn't they better figure something out. I refuse to continue to feel like this. I want to be healthy!
Anyway, that's my rant. Tuesday can't get here fast enough.
