I had the pleasure of seeing two ladies I have not seen since I retired back in 2005.....as you guessed they were surprised and I think amazed by my weight loss..They were both polite and gave some very nice compliments.....and of course asked HOW CAN YOU HAVE LOST SO MUCH WEIGHT.... They both thought I must have had surgery as they have tied countless times to loose weight only to give up and gain even more weight....

I tried to explain about spark people but sometimes people can't grasp that this is not really a diet plan, they don't tell you what to eat.....One said if they don't tell you what to eat how can you loose weight, so I gave them both my sparkpeople card and said check it out and let me know if I can help....I also asked if they wanted to start a walking group and we could meet a couple times a week , they said they would call..but I know they won't, but I did my best to explain about a healthy life style and healthy eating..funny how some people want to loose weight but they are not willing to do the hard work that it takes....as we know it is a life long commitment other wise it won't work...I've come to realize that you can't change old habits , you have to find new ones to replace them, find new coping skills, you have to be awake too what is really going on in your mind and your heart....getting in touch with your deepest feelings and darn that can be tough.....You must figure out how to turn to something besides food to fill you up deep in your soul.....is it easy ...No but I think it can be done if you keep working at it...
telling others of your struggles and accomplishment sure does help....so I will continue my daily blogs if for no other reason but to keep me on track....to help me train my brain to be healthy and strong.....
some days are easier than others.....today was a good day,

    Thank you Kitt for writing this very motivating and inspiring blog! I truly am trying to get to my ideal weight range but all too often I give up, fall off the wagon, then I'll have to start from ground zero all over again. Of course you are right....this is a life style change we need to commit to, no excuses. This can be done and you are a beautiful walking poster board. emoticon

    I'm finding our for myself that what you're saying is absolutely true! You have to replace old habits with new, healthy ones. it's a permanent change too. It's really like giving birth to almost an entirely new person, and as with any birthing---it HURTS. But that's ok. I can stand a little pain if it means I can effect a real change in my life.

    I know I'm going to have rough spots, I might be hungrier than I want to be at times--and boy oh boy do I ever dread that idea...but I'll find ways to combat that--and any other difficulties I'm going to encounter.

    Thanks to people like you, Kitt, I'll be able to draw on the strength and experience of people who have been there and done that. That's just about the biggest and best weapon anyone can ever hope to find in this battle we face everyday of our lives.

    So, please do keep blogging, Kitt. I'm always going to be reading them, getting hope and strength from them. I only hope that someday I can walk in your shoes and inspire and perhaps even help someone else as much as you've inspired and helped me.

    Glad you had a good day! As for your friends...when they're ready to help themselves, they'll figure it out. Try as we might, we can't get anyone else to that spot until they get there themselves. Hopefully your example will help them get there sooner than later. Their choice if they don't. You made the right choice for you!
