This spring my workouts are all about diversity. I do swimming and water jogging at least once a week. A small group of us workout with a personal trainer once a week. And I have now incorporated Zumba into the equation.

It was really funny the yesterday which was when I made my surprise appearance into the class. One of my wife's friends said I am so glad your here maybe now my husband will come. My wife went into the weight room early to log her zumba work out and the fellas were like where's your husband? "Oh' He's in Zumba class, she says. They are all like WHAT!!! I missed it. We could have took a camera in and posted it on youtube!! As if I couldn't be graceful or something!

I guess the old stereotype of black guys being able to dance is dead. Or maybe it never apply to big 6' 6" 300 plus pound guys like myself LOL Even the instructor was a little surprised I could keep up! The funny thing is most of the guys at the gym act like it's something wrong with moving your hips. I would call it homophobic but there aren't any men in the class!?!. Which raises another question why wouldn't a man want to be in the back of a class full of ladies shaking their hips? Plus there was no cover charge!

Zumba was a lot of fun but the real reason I do it and the swimming too is just to diversify my training which I am told will help me lose weight quicker and save wear and tear on my joints. Well I'll let you know how it works out for me. And to the men out there if you belong to a gym that offers the class try it out you might enjoy it!

    Good for you trying something new. Hey, you just might be the one to get more guys involved. I really enjoy Zumba and have been doing it for about a year. There are a few guys in the class. However only one brother. It was so funny one class a brother came in and said I just came to see what this Zumba is all about. Well, when we got to certain moves he just gave up. Well, I guess it could have been that he was not in shape for it. You got to be ready for an hour of cardio. I am trying to encourage my husband to get more exercise in other than playing golf. It may take a while to get him to try Zumba. The eating healthy is coming along. He started losing weight by default. I was preparing my lunch and his at the same time. He started enjoying having his fruits , nuts, and little healthy snacks that I would pack him. I hope that you continue with the Zumba!

    Love the blog! Yes it is very good to diversify! Everything that we do to shock the body into losing weight is very good!

    One of the maintenance ladies at my office does Zumba, and told me that her husband lost 40 pounds doing it!

    That's motivation in itself, I'd say.

    I hope you're keeping up your program of mixing things up-- that sounds like a great way to keep moving. :)

    Sounds awesome! I take water Zumba at the Y and we have one guy in our class. It is great fun... Good for you for keeping your exercise interesting...
