This spring my workouts are all about diversity. I do swimming and water jogging at least once a week. A small group of us workout with a personal trainer once a week. And I have now incorporated Zumba into the equation.
It was really funny the yesterday which was when I made my surprise appearance into the class. One of my wife's friends said I am so glad your here maybe now my husband will come. My wife went into the weight room early to log her zumba work out and the fellas were like where's your husband? "Oh' He's in Zumba class, she says. They are all like WHAT!!! I missed it. We could have took a camera in and posted it on youtube!! As if I couldn't be graceful or something!
I guess the old stereotype of black guys being able to dance is dead. Or maybe it never apply to big 6' 6" 300 plus pound guys like myself LOL Even the instructor was a little surprised I could keep up! The funny thing is most of the guys at the gym act like it's something wrong with moving your hips. I would call it homophobic but there aren't any men in the class!?!. Which raises another question why wouldn't a man want to be in the back of a class full of ladies shaking their hips? Plus there was no cover charge!
Zumba was a lot of fun but the real reason I do it and the swimming too is just to diversify my training which I am told will help me lose weight quicker and save wear and tear on my joints. Well I'll let you know how it works out for me. And to the men out there if you belong to a gym that offers the class try it out you might enjoy it!
