Day 94: S-L-O-W Day!

Monday, April 04, 2011

The back is better, but I'm taking it easy. The next time I go to the GP I think I'll ask him about a 'bone density' test or whatever. Tho there were plenty of old ladies in my family who've never gotten osteoporosis (lotta dairy farmers in my ancestry) my mother has had it for nearly forty years, so it occurs to me that a test might not be a bad idea. If nothing else, it will give me a baseline for comparison.

Kitchen clean-up day today, plus groceries. I have a leftover roast chicken from Sunday when we had company and I was planning to make soup with it today, but after doing the routine cleaning and getting groceries I figured I would take it easy. (Freezers are so convenient, lol - so I might freeze the left over chicken and make soup another time.) The book I mentioned the other day, written by an old friend from high school, arrived from Amazon so I've spent more time today reading than I usually do. Dovetailed nicely with resting my back, tho. (Insert grin here!)

Got a lot of short bits 'n' pieces cleared off the To-Do list, mostly having to do with filling in calendars, confirming appointments, sorting paperwork - the ongoing business of the household.

So that's essentially it. Oh, I sold my first item on eBay - for the grand sum of one pound! I figure wotthehell, they're paying postage and it's a pound more than I had yesterday. Somehow I don't see this as becoming a path to millions, but ya never know, right?

And with that (she said) I'm officially outta here. Beatleband then bedtime and a hotwater bottle for the back. I really need to get one of those microwaveable heating pads.

Goodnight, Sparklers, wherever you are!

My daughter just got a tens unit from her chiro-- she has fibromyalgia and has stopped using her cymbalta because of the side effects so she is in a lot of pain-- I was thinking her next step may have to be accupuncture

Those microwaveable thingies don't stay hot very long. At first they're too hot to go anywhere near, then they're OK for about 15 minutes, then they're too cold. I'm assuming you mean the bean bag types.

Had my first bone density at age 50, ordered by my gyno at my yearly checkup. Had another last year (missed a year, should do them every other year).

Mammogram, colonoscopy, and bone density. Fun things to do as we get older!

Great believer in base line and follow up tests... it's how they spotted my own bone issues... and subsequently "fixed" the problem! So, go, Kasey, get the test! Strong and straight is in your future!

Congrats on your first Ebay sale...it's a start and you're getting rid of stuff in the process. You've been working so hard lately, maybe your back is reminding you to slow down a bit...and spend more time with your new book! emoticon
