Day 117: In My Backyard
Tuesday, April 26, 2011
This afternoon, after a cloudy morning, the sun finally came out. There are loads of rhododendrons and azaleas in our yard. Not all of them bloom at the same time, of course, but there are at least a good half-dozen that are 'in the process' right now. The colors are mostly bright and they just shout 'SPRING'!
I took a bunch of pictures - I hope you enjoy them.
That last - the yellow one - is a particular favorite of mine. It blooms every year, but does better in alternate years, sort of like biennial flowers. As you can see, this year it's out in full force.
Over the next few weeks, several others will come and go. I have two other favorites, one a glowing magenta, the other a true scarlet. I'll try to get pictures of those as well.
In the meantime, instead of the traditional 'good night' picture, I'll leave you with a shot of bluebells. They're just about at their peak around here.
Goodnight, Sparklers, wherever you are!
