Day 120: Done 'n' Dusted!

Friday, April 29, 2011

I have been totally indulged today. I got up at 7, did the morning routine (well, hurried thru it, more like!) and was in the recliner at 7:55, ready to roll. They 'officially' finished at just about 4. I don't ordinarily watch much television, and while I had a few other things to hand - it's that multi-tasking business, doncha know, plus the new phone is full of how-to's and gidgets and wizmos... I mean, widgets and gizmos - that's more sitting in a stretch than I've done in years. So I'm blogging early, getting off the computer (just can't deal with more sitting!), and going to tell Himself how terrific he's been, even down to making lunch so I didn't have to miss anything - and bringing it into the living room so we could eat in front of the tv. Wotta guy!

Anyway, the highlights from my perspective:

--last night Wills and Harry came out to the crowds around Clarence House and did a brief 'walkabout,' chatting with the people camping out

--a montage of photographs from different stages in William's life, many of him with his mother

--of course, The Dress... personally, I was hoping for a Grace Kelly-esque style, and I'd say it was!

--Mr Middleton: tell me that wasn't a tough role

--Will's and Kate's homage to 'grandmamma' - I don't think the national anthem was required, but it was a nice touch, and the one point at which Elizabeth definitely struggled to maintain control

--read her lips: Kate's very perceptible 'Oh Wow!' as she and William step out onto the balcony at Buck House

--the balcony kiss: two for the price of one

--the JU5T WED car - that really was a great touch

A couple of lowlights, again IMHO:

--Pippa Middleton's dress: love the off-white idea for the bridesmaids, but the 'mermaid' style didn't work very well when she had to do so much bending, up and down steps, etc.

--Kate not leaving her bouquet on the Unknown's Tomb in the abbey

--the Duchess of Cornwall elbowing Mrs Middleton aside, then nearly pushing her to the outside of the party on the balcony; that last rankles me, as it gets cut in clips, so I suspect if you didn't see it live, you won't see it again. Speaks volumes, to my mind, but maybe I'm just being catty.

So I'll leave you on a high with the best overall moment:

--William says something like 'You're beautiful' as Kate arrives at the altar.

Romance and fairy tales, eh? Gotta love it!

Back at it tomorrow, peeps, so it's an early goodnight from me.

I loved the dress and I think that is what William said to her when she arrived---plus I think he said I love you as well as you are beautiful. Saw a picture of the cake on the internet----lovely---those hats---some were lovely and some were a hoot---one of Andrew's daughters---the one next to the blue one---now that one was too funny. Enjoyed what I saw----didn't get to see the double kiss----sigh!
Tell himself that he was great in fixing lunch for you!

I'll say it. I really loved her wedding gown ! It was very similar in style to the one worn by Grace Kelly when she married Prince Rainer. That was an iconic dress. I think Kate made a great choice. It was elegant, but not over the top.

I caught part of the wedding while at the gym. I had to work this morning. So, I'll watch the highlights on the entertainment shows tonight.

I thought William and Harry were quite striking. they're both extremely handsome. Although, I feel bad for William, he got dad's hairline. eh-hem.

Now, let's talk HATS !! I can't get over all the different hats the women wore in the Abbey. Some of the hats were very nice, others left me scratching my head. In particular, the little hats that women like Victoria Beckham were wearing. A friend of mine (who's into fashion) called them fascinations. Is that right ? I was wondering how those things were stuck on. I'm not sure if it was Beatrice or Eugenie, but one of them was wearing a hat that looked like it had antlers ! LOL !!

I thought the Queen looked great. She's in really good health for a woman who just turned 85. Good for her. I liked her yellow outfit.

Really lovely ceremony. I do love watching British pageantry.

Very satisfying, overall. Gorgeous dress... and the veil was perfect. I loved her sister's dress, too, though. Here's to love, honor, and tradition! And romance!
