took car off the road for one day and rode 35 miles

Saturday, April 30, 2011

So I heard the weather was supposed to be sunny and warm today.. My plans were made in midweek and I was biking to my 4 yr old grandsons soccer game ( His first ever) then biking 15 miles to visit my parents that i do every Saturday then biking another 15 miles to my 10 yr old grandsons baseball game.

The ride was good, however first off it wasn't sunny
The soccer game was cute

next after I was biking to my parents I took a picture of a river along the route, There is hardly any traffic and these are the roads I grew up with. My dad took my fishing on this river quite a bit when I was small.

Also along the way I came across a barn that had collapsed during the winter from all the snow.. There were hundreds of barns that collapsed throughout the state this past Winter

I finally arrived at my other grandsons baseball game after my parents fed me some delicious homemade pea soup , mmmm Was very good ! Only stayed a little while at the game as it was windy and chilly out.. As you can see still no sun :(

Finally arrived back at home, it was very windy and of course a strong head wind on the way back.. All in all a great day, I spent nothing on gas and got a great ride in burning some calories..

What an awesome day! Isn't it fun to look at all the familiar things that you see all the time through someone else's eyes? I found that when I blogged about all of my rides. Suddenly, I appreciated things so much more.

(BTW...the fallen barn looks like a lot of the houses in my county after being hit with a whole day of tornadoes a week ago. My pretty biking roads might never bee the same.)
