STRONGend challenge #3 fri 4/29 thru mon 5/2

omg I can't believe I made it here in time to spark before the STRONGend deadline!!!
haven't been able to get on BFF's puter all day, and FINALLY I'm HOME!! YAUYAUAUAY!!
oops, lol. that was supposed to be a yayayayay, hahaha.

I got the link to Oprah's website, and made my vision collage the other day, so I'm heading over there to try to put it up here at my spage

I tried a starfruit recently, and it was very refreshing! Sort of tasted like a pear/pineapple taste, but light in taste too. I had seen them but not tried them bcs I didn't have any idea what they tasted like. So, a new fruit! nom, nom, nom...

I finally also made it over to the main street of the city BFF lives in, for lunch; at Thali of India, all the food is AWESOME authentic Indian, and the atmosphere is wonderful too bcs they play gentle/happy vocal and instrumental music, which is soothing to me even when they're busy there. I had Spinach Ghota, or Pakora, which is not so healthy bcs it's fried, but in small amounts it was nice, and at least the batter was spiced chickpea, not just a flour type. I also had Zucchini Masala, delicious! and includes tomato, onions, and garlic curry sauce.

Then I had something called Palak Paneer, which is a thick spinach puree with garlic, ginger, tomatoes, and spices with cubes of farmer's cheese. I thought the cheese was tofu, so if i ever get ambitious enough to try to make it, I'll definitely use silky tofu instead of the cheese. I had chicken vindaloo, which was curry & tomato sauce, with great fresh herbs in and on it.

Finally, I had something like Aioo Gobi, but more of a curry; it had cauliflower and potatoes with onions and tomatoes and bits of whole spices and herbs. It has inspired me to start cooking with lots of herbs and pieces of the plants, not just the powdered or dried type. I also want to use more of the Indian spices, like curry and cumin, bcs I know that when I use herbs & spices I enjoy less food more, and also that hotter spices can ramp up our metabolisms, at least temporarily.

I'm looking forward to scrolling back to see what everyone else has been sharing about new healthier foods! Sorry i didn't get more done this StrongEnd!

I've at least! managed to sneak time for myself every day, and Boy! did I really need it! The dogs finally got to me, and I'm SO glad to be home. I still have to go back sometimes, but I can be home and address bills and clean up clutter and stuff. Sometimes I just read a book left there by a previous guest, and sometimes I got on my laptop (which didn't get a signal there, oh well) and just played some chinese tile game (can't recall the name of it!). I did sit and munch often, but I never felt like I needed food to comfort or de-stress me, I just ate when I needed to and broke it up into many smaller meals rather than three large ones.
