Day 124: The Day Flew By--!

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

Did it ever! First was the grocery store. Did I mention yesterday was a holiday in the UK? Nobody seems to know WHY it's a holiday. It's the first Monday in May, which is a 'bank holiday.' Beats me. Nothing to do with the royal wedding - that is, Friday (the day of the wedding) had been declared a national holiday, but the first Monday in May is a holiday regardless.

At any rate, as it turned out we didn't get our usual groceries yesterday (since produce deliveries are iffy on major holidays) so today was the nominal going-to-town day. Himself went off to the supermarket while I spent the time in the 'big cemetery' visiting George. You regular readers may recalled that I've mentioned this before - George is George Formby, an entertainer of some renown from a few decades ago - more about him tomorrow. I was going to post some pictures I took, but I haven't gotten them all 'fixed,' tho I have most downloaded. So tomorrow, tomorrow, Deo volente tomorrow, lol...

That was one round of walking. After lunch we went over to the world's longest / narrowest park (more on that tomorrow, too, or the day after) and walked as far as we could in half-an-hour, then back. It was quite breezy today so mostly I didn't worry about taking pictures along the path - between my shakiness and the flowers and leaves blowing about I think it would've been mostly blurs. I did get a couple of some wild roses (they smelled heavenly!) but - tomorrow.

Spent two hours talking with my son. That was the real highlight of the day. I don't get to see my children very often, so emails, IMs, and phone calls have to fill the void. Mostly they do, but it's still so nice to be able to spend time doing nothing but talking.

And that's it. A full day, but it really did fly by. You know how it is - when you're having fun, lol.

Goodnight, Sparklers, wherever you are!

Gee, you guys had another holiday !! WOW !! I'm envious. You (the Canadians too) had Good Friday off, plus the Monday after Easter. Then you had the wedding off and now there's this holiday. What a country ! LOL !!!

I just took a look at my wall calendar and Monday the 2nd IS listed as a bank holiday in the UK. hmm, I wonder what's up with that.

    Hope you're enjoying your day ! I know I would !!

    Good blog

The May Day holiday is celebrated in many countries, BUT NOT the USA. It is International workers day and was started with Trade Unions fighting for an 8 hour day
