Weight Perception

Wednesday, May 04, 2011

I had gained close to 2lbs since my last weigh-in for the BLC. Aunt Flo had stopped by and apparently water retention during that time can make you gain 1-10lbs.. 1-7 is completely normal. Today.. no aunt flo and I step on the scale. I lost the water retention weight.. and more.. seemingly overnight. I guess I had lost weight and gained more than 2lbs due to water retention. So today I am making sure I get my water and am going for my walk even though it looks crappy as hell outside. I am so close to leaving the 340's it's unreal. The sooner I reach 299 the better :-)

I'm going to buy my reward for 299 early.. it's a nook. I'm not buying personal books for it until I reach my goal.. but I'm tired of lugging around so many school books during the school day.. and texts books are so much cheaper on nook than they are hard-cover. When I reach my goal I'll start buying my personal books so it can become something I WANT instead of just something I NEED

I think I have a weight perception problem. I see people weighing 200-250lbs and they don't look big to me. They look like they're on the big side of a healthy weight. "Fluffy" is how I perceive them. I guess it's because I' used to being so much bigger than them. I used to be 409lbs. That weight isn't reflected on my slide because I started THIS journey at 360-something. Also.. When I look at a before and after pic I see the weight loss.. but not when I look in a mirror? Is my weight perception that messed up?

I still look in the mirror and see me from last year-or even from my license picture 4 years ago. I think that is why sometime I seem so shocked because I am seeing things smaller. Like my wrist-I never imaged my wrist would look thin. There are days when I look huge and days when I look to me the way my clothes are laying on me. Your doing amazing and I am still proud of you :)

I was going to hold out on even getting the nook until I hit 299.. But I really need it for school. But it will still be kept as a reward if I ONLY use it for school until I reach my goal. Then I get to buy books I WANT and it becomes a reward at that point. I'm almost at my first goal.. which comes with a reward of six flags for my family. I could switch around rewards... but I really want to bring my son to Six Flags... He'd have so much fun!

Well, I have a problem feeling better when I look at the mirror... that's why before/after pics are so important... There I can truly see how far I've come!
You did a great job already! Keep on moving and you'll get out of the 300s soon!

We all have that weight perception issue, I think it's because you look in the mirror everyday and the change is so gradual that you really don't notice it but then you see a pic from say a month or so ago and then you can really see the difference. Keep up the good work you'll be to 299 before you know it!! emoticon

I have a Kindle... I broke my first one, I should have made my second one a weight loss goal, I would probably have worked out twice a day every day.

    Congrats on your weight loss!
