Friday night I ended up going to sleep rather early, in preparation for my 5K on Saturday. I got up early enough to eat and hang out before the race. I wasn't as nervous as I expected to be, honestly. I had come to terms with the fact that I might not blow my mind with how well I do, that I was running for fun and that I wanted to enjoy the run. The weather was perfect for it! I stayed to the front of the pack for most of the run, and surprised myself by hitting 2 miles at 15:20, which is less time than what I need in order to get 100% on my PT test! Exciting! Now I just have to ace my pushups/situps. I didn't walk at all until I hit the 2 mile mark, and I allowed myself to walk more than I would have liked during that final mile. I came in at 24:49, and my goal for my next 5K is to not walk until 2.5 miles. Eventually I'll get to the point where I don't walk at all. Work in progress.
Bruce met me at the finish with flowers, which was lovely. :) We went to lunch at a great Thai food place in town with a mutual friend, and went to Bruce's sister's graduation party. I kept dropping marriage hints to his father and sisters, it is a running joke between me and Bruce. I am not really in a hurry to get married, but I do think that Bruce is the one that I will marry. And I love his family, and they love me. It works out well.
Sunday we got up and drove to Hermann. Our B&B was absolutely gorgeous! The bathroom had a HUGE jetted tub surrounded by marble counter, with a fireplace at one end. The shower had like 8 shower heads, and the floor of the bathroom was heated. Talk about luxury! The bed was huge and so comfortable, and we had awesome robes. Our room came with a bottle of wine and we drank it pretty much on arrival. That was the theme for the day, I will have to say. We went to several wineries on the wine trail, and the brewery as well. It was a fun time. I went to sleep at about 6 and got back up at 10. I felt bad for sleeping, but it was definitely a wine nap. The breakfast in the morning was good, and after laying around for a couple hours we checked out. I never usually get up early enough when I stay at a hotel to hang out before we have to check out, so that was nice. We went to a little deli for lunch/ice cream and then headed home.
I was introduced to the swimming hole yesterday. My friend Marita took me and a couple other friends out there. It was lovely. Beautiful and serene. We drank a bag of wine, and a bottle of wine. The water was still really cold, but it was so hot out that it felt great. Marita brought her dog and she loved it. It was a really great time, and this summer we are going to go out there every Monday. Considering my class schedule for the summer is going to be 2 hours a day, monday through friday, I will be having a lot of new free time. And need to find ways to enjoy myself and not spend money. Swimming hole sounds like a great way to go about it. Excited!
It was nice not worrying about how I looked in my swimsuit. I felt alright. My friend Jon took some really awesome pictures I wanted to share. :)
This is at a weird angle, but this is probably the first year I've worn a swimsuit, and seen the pictures and not wanted to shred them. So, that makes me happy. :)
This is the swimming hole, me sitting on the raft on the very right of the picture. Wine in hand.
So, the weekend was fun. It was amazing, reminds me why I love my life and my friends and the SUN. But, my eating/drinking was horrendous. I ate healthy most of the time, but I also ate ice cream twice this weekend, and drank my weight in wine. Man, oh man. I have to get serious. I read on my Facebook feed yesterday that it is one month until Bonnaroo! 4 weeks from tomorrow I will be leaving Columbia and driving down to Manchester in our awesome RV. So, this means that I need to get my stuff straight. I don't want the summer to start and me lose track of the progress I have made, like last year. No, I will not let this be a slope.
I haven't missed workouts, so that is good. I want to prove to myself that I can go without tracking, without gaining weight. So, I will. I am going to stick to my meal plan the rest of the month, no eating out except if I plan ahead and look at the menu. No sugar, no junk. Just good ol fuel to keep my body running strong. The fun will happen, I just have to put in work the other time. I guess that's it.
Have a great week!
