Hello my fellow Shredders and Spark People Friends.
Here is my quick update after the injury.
Foot still seems to be doing well without pain and the swelling has stayed gone now for three days. YEE-HAW!
Finding it difficult to get back on track with the Shred. The first time I started I always did it in the mornings to get "going", however this time I have yet to really get "going". My goal is to be up in the morning and do Level One for a few days and then move back to Level Two. HERE IS TO SETTING THIS RIGHT NOW AS A FIRM GOAL.
For my friends who have been following my blogs, the Cholesterol results from the doctor came back in. My Total Cholesterol FASTING is 261. Not good.
The Doctor's do not want to put me on medication yet (as medication could be a life long commitment and I am only 27). So per the Doctor's orders I MUST exercise (cardio) at least 5 times per week for 30 minutes. The Elliptical and I have become dear friends. Although it did start to squeak tonight which was only moderately annoying.
Next: I must take Fish Oil pills twice a day. This one is hard, this is a HABIT that I don't yet have. However, I came up with the plan. My husband takes his diabetes medications twice a day, so when he takes his medications he is to tell me so that I will take my Fish Oil. Joy.
Also: DIET. I need to monitor my diet and pay attention to it. I am really keeping an eye on my total cholesterol via the Nutritional Tracker, as well as watching my fat intake. I'm eating my Steel Cut Oatmeal in the morning and will be experimenting with many different ways to jazz that up as time moves on I'm sure.
Having High Cholesterol has come as a TOTAL shock to me. I have a year to see if diet and exercise alone can bring it back down into healthy numbers. THIS is absolutely motivation to make some life changes and get the habits to stick. I CAN DO THIS.
However, I also have to make sure that in a year, if I have TRULY stuck to the plan, done what I'm supposed to do, and the numbers are still unhealthily high, to realize that it may be something I can't control with diet and exercise alone.
We will wait and cross that bridge next year. I got 12 months my friends. I am pretty sure I set my nutritional tracker to "shared" view for anyone who wants to take a look at it. I'm open to suggestions from those who know more about Cholesterol than I do or who are in the "lower it" battle with me.
I hope all of you wonderful people out there have been having a great and fantastic day!
