Free food Sunday

Sunday, May 15, 2011

I'm so glad I went for a walk today despite the rain. I had to make 2 journeys back home before setting off properly because my neighbours down the lane kept giving me food! From one garden I was given 2 huge bunches of purple sprouting broccoli and rocket, enough for a few meals. Then it was 4 hen's eggs from another neighbour, followed by freshly caught and oak smoked trout fillets from my friend's husband.

I've just started a new regime of eating as much unprocessed food as possible and it occurs to me that this could also be the cheapest way to eat, especially if I stay friendly with my neighbours! I wish my work schedule were easier as I'd have a go at growing my own produce too but I'll just have to keep to fruit trees, pot grown spuds and herbs for now.

It sounds good. My family eats stuff loaded with sodium and I retain fluid from it.
