Feeling lighter than air

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

Wow!! Was I surprised at the scale today! I was down 4.6 pounds, and it was like a miracle. After weeks of bloating and gaining in the suddenly humid weather, off it came, all of a sudden. I'm also beginning to think that my high stress levels are holding weight and fluids. Just a thought, but the longer I work towards goal, the more educated I become.
I also came to the realization of another thing: When I had a terrible attack of painful Sciatica two summers ago, it may have been the hot weather and swelling in my body that caused it. I discovered this a few days ago when I was my most swollen from fluid retention. I had trouble getting comfy in bed, and difficulty getting out of bed due to Sciatic pain in my left leg and hip. The only thing that was different was the rise in temperature and humidity. I can't prove it, but I notice things like this because I am so conscious of my physical condition.
Today it is less humid and I HAVE NO PAIN even though I have been twice as active as usual, and even walked steps further than I usually do. My ankles are back to normal size and I feel lighter than air and pain-free. Just wanted to share these insights with my dear Spark friends and hope it helps in some way! I think lots of prayer helped too; because all things work together for good when you love the Lord! emoticon emoticon

Congratulations! That's awesome. Thank you for sharing your insights on temperature as well. I have been thinking about that recently but hadn't come to any conclusions.

WooHoo, Patty!!! What a nice surprise!

Stress really can affect our weight, and almost everything else. Let it go, if possible, and relax. And keep positive thoughts. That will also help a lot. It's easier to do the things we need to do when we have a positive attitude.

Sounds like you have that positive attitude, and you're trusting the best "doctor" in the world!

True THAT! God is gOOd alllllll the time!

I wonder though if your sodium level was lower those days... do you track it? Since the doc put me on low sodium and I track it, I notice all kinds of HORRORS (that I had contributed to other factors) when my sodium is a little high - and worse even when it's a LOT high. Just wondering... It's been horribly hot and humid here in DC the last few days - but I haven't had the "normal" swelling from it at all! I'm sO amazed!
