journey back to spark

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Gosh. I haven't been on this website since last August. That's almost a year. It hasn't been good. What happened:
Sept & Oct - in and out of the hospital with my Dad for days at a time.
Mid Oct - stress of it all too much for my Mom. She had a mini-stroke. (TIA).
I had to take a leave of absence from teaching @ this point with the hope 2 return in january.
I still did the lesson plans, grading, test making etc from home.
We found some help for my parents. Health got better. Kids were devouring the sub so I decided 2 go back to work.
March financial crisis in the state mandated tchr wrkforce reduction. I only taught because I loved it not for the $. So I decided 2 resign so that someone who needed the job could be saved. This way I could take my dad to weekly appts. My bp is out of control and I have to focus on weightloss. When I teach, that's all I think abt. Now I have time 2 think about me.
Of course I have been yo-yoing with my wght since I left spark. I am a little heavier but at least I am back.
I even started exercising daily since school ended.
I will miss teaching with all my heart. But now is the time 2 take care of me so that there will be tomorrows.
Hope my friends are still sparking. emoticon

Welcome back! You've got the attitude, girl...make it all about you! We're here for you - and trust me, we've all been there (for one reason or another). But what you need to focus on is that you made the best choice and that is to return to what you know works for you. Stay strong, stay active...and keep on sparkin' :)

I am still here and glad you are back. There are always struggles in life. Believe me, I have had my fair share this year as well. Seance Aug of last year i have had my great grandma die, my husband had 4 surgeries and has been in and out of the hospital for months on end with me driving back and fourth with my 3 kids everyday. I did yo yo a bit on my weight loss but the difference is I never stopped logging on everyday to SP. I started at 206lbs loosed down to 175 lbs then the stress in Aug-Dec I gained 10 lbs back. Even though I was still going crazy with hospital visits I decided I didn't want to gain any more weight and I went full swing back into helping myself and now I am at 161 lbs. I have 11 more lbs to hit my goal of 150 lbs.

You are doing great to come back and I hope you dont leave again because I truly believe that it was the help of all my spark friend motivating me everyday even when I was gaining the weight, that helped me keep going. I look forward to hear how you are doing every day or every week. You are worth it!
