New option to block members from sending you SparkMail

Hi everyone

We launched a new small feature today where you can block certain members from sending you SparkMail. On every message you read you will now see a "Block This User" link on the right side of the message. After blocking, you can click the "Block List" button on you main SparkMail page to see everyone you have blocked, and be able to un-block members.

Once you have blocked another member, if they try to send you a message they will see a general error saying you are not receiving SparkMails.

We don't think this feature will need to be used very often, and if you receive emails harassing your or asking you to buy a product we ask that you still use the "Report Inappropriate Message" link so we can keep the user from SparkMailing other members.

    When I was on here once before I once made a comment on someone's blog. After that I started to get almost daily sparkmail from them as if we are now personal friends. Questions like, what did I do today, hearing about her day and I just never responded. They eventually got the message that we are not personal friends just because I left one nice comment on their blog. I think if I would of blocked them that would of been harsh. Same thing when I was on here once before and had pictures up and mentioned I was single. I started to get unwanted sparkmail from a man interested in a personal relationship. I just told him I don't like using sparkmail and to please only correspond with me in the comments section on my page. I knew what he wrote to me on my sparkpage would of been more innocent than what he was writing me on private sparkmail. I think blocking would of been harsh in that situation as well. I think blocking should only be used in abusive situations.

    You're so right: it won't be necessary to use very often. But like so many of the updates in this ever-evolving site full of tools, this one is nice to have "just in case"!!
