I've been away from Spark for quite a while and honestly, I'm probably not really back. I'm not really sure why I stepped away. Probably had something to do with the fact that it suddenly started taking 10 minutes or so to log in, which I noticed is still happening today. Argh. Have I ever mentioned how impatient I am? About the same time that started happening, we hit an all time new low in our finances and healthy food choices just haven't always been an option. And summer hit which means it's 99 degrees and 4,000% humidity every day. And oddly, we've been blessed with rain. Normally, by this time of year, we are under drought conditions, the news is full of reports of wells drying up and you can't go barefoot outdoors because the grass is so dry & crunchy it hurts to walk on. Not this year! This year has brought us only one or two days a week without rain. And it hasn't just been rain, it's been huge, big whopping thunder storms. Not exactly good running weather.
Anyway, those are my excuses. Not good ones, I'll admit, but mine none the less. The excuses leave me at a point where I still care, but not enough apparently. Food wise, I'm trying to make the best choice based on what's available but I'll admit that that doesn't always happen. As for exercising, well, I really hate indoor exercise and while I long to get out and run, the humidity is just beyond miserable. Even at 7:00 a.m. My running career may be put on hold until fall when I can start complaining about how cold it is. Frankly, I don't think I'll ever complain about the cold ever again.
Ok, so, if I'm not really in the Sparking mood and I'm not considering myself "back", why am I posting? Because I've recently started following a blog about a woman who has started walking to loose weight & get healthy. I have no idea why I started reading her blog, I really thought it had something to do with knitting but I don't see a single post about knitting. But who cares why I started following it. The point is, I love the woman's writing style and if you want a little motivation, and hey - who can't use a little motivation? Anyway, for a bit of motivation, specially for those of us who are struggling to maintain or even find our spark, you have got to read the June 6, 2011 post. Not only are the photos great, but her words are just.... well, they make me want to get out and walk. Go check it out for yourself -

And I have to say - driving on the beach is one of life's coolest & naughtiest feeling things!
