good saturday

Saturday, July 16, 2011

I had a good work out this morning, that always feels good..
I decided to go to Bed Bath and Beyond to get a folding clothes rack so I can air dry things I don't like to put in dryer..
While I was looking around a very sweet women smiled at me and I said hello the next thing I hurt a scream and heard a a hard thud, she had fallen hit her head on the shelf, she was having a seizure, OMG...he friend started screaming and I move things so she did not further hurt herself and told her to call 911, blood was coming from the womens mouth, I was more concerned about a possible head injury...I had to tell the women several time, calm down call 911, finally the store manager got there, he wanted to stick is pen in her mouth, I explain that is not the thing to do, we can't do much but try and keep her safe till the EMT get there.....this poor women .... finally 15 minutes later the EMT got there....and her sister who was shopping at Kohls got there too, she was so frightened too, telingl her to get up off the floor and stop acting like this.....people do say the strangest thing.....
I know it sounds like I was cool as a cucumber, I am one of those people who can take charge and do what needs to be done, (when the store manager wanted to move her I explained that she need to stay where she was as she might have other injuries and we don't want to make them worse.) I left once EMT got there, they took over and the store manager did come over and thank me...he said you sure are a calm person...I left store got in my car and started to cry....that is how I deal with things....came home to tell Gary and of course cried again....that poor lady is going to have a terrible headache or worse.....
so how was your saturday.....

I made chef salad for dinner, it was 103 today, a real scorcher.....thank goodness for A/C and lots of ice water....
I did try some crystal light today, I use the package for a 16oz water bottle but made it in a 32 oz jar..not so sweet that way, it was pink lemonade and it was not bad...rather refreshing in fact......so something new to try when I just need something besides water and it's hot...

have a happy and healthy Saturday

Kitt, you did great handling that medical emergency! And falling apart after -- I'm the same way. I do great and take charge, and once it's over I curl up in a ball somewhere for a few minutes and come unglued. You held it together when it mattered and likely helped that woman a lot!

Weather sure is hot these days -- you folks are getting it worse than we are, but still hot all the same. Stay cool!

God Bless you for being able to handle a scary situation like that. I would have cried after, as well. Just not as sure I would have responded as coherantly as you did.

    You are a heroine!

Wow, Kitt, thank God you were there to help her. I would have probably been too freaked out to do anything and of course I would have been crying.

Hope the rest of your weekend is uneventful and calm. Take care!

    Hugs,

Kit, I am a nurse and I can tell you that you did everything I would have done. You were absolutely right in not putting anything in her mouth and just letting her stay where she was. I have a young lady in the day care where I work who often has seizures. I lay her on the floor with a pillow under her head, turn her on her side so if she vomits she won't strangle on it, and just stay with her until the seizure is over. So glad you were there to be an advocate for this helpless woman when everyone else around was losing it.

Good thing you were there Kitt. That poor woman could have really gotten hurt if everyone there did what they wanted to do. You were her hero today.

emoticon You did great. I remember the first time my sister had a major seizure. Yours truly did not know not to stick anything in her mouth. I almost lost a finger. emoticon But we learned. Praise God she only had two more large ones over the years. Never was a finger in danger again though.

I like to water down my flavored drinks also. Have you tried the MIO? They are very tasty and the containers do not leak so you can carry them in your bag. They are also liquid so you can squirt and shake, all mixed up. emoticon

Hope your Sunday is less eventful than today.
