They Laugh When I Tell Them My Secret

It happened again at a church potluck supper this evening. A friend said, "You are getting slim. How did you do it?" Then, being a very smart woman, she answered her own question, "Eat less and exercise?" When I admitted she had guessed right, she said, "I keep hoping someone will tell me something else."

No. There is nothing else. Anyone who tries to tell you there's another secret to weight loss is probably trying to sell you a product. Don't buy it.

There are a few things that help, of course, but none of them requires you to buy a product. There is meal planning, drinking water, and keeping a food diary, for instance.

I did buy one thing that helps, but I bought it at a thrift store for fifty cents. It is a book that gives calorie, sodium, & fat content for all foods, even those you get at a fast food restaurant. But if I left the book sitting on a shelf it would do me no good at all. It is my active participation in my own weight loss plan that has allowed me to lose weight.

Yes, most of my friends do laugh when I tell them my weight loss secret is to eat less and exercise. Are you laughing, too?

    No, not laughing. I just wish eating less and doing more was working better for me..... But it's the only thing that really works, so I keep trying.

    People want to believe it is hard to do but if you watch what you eat and exercise it works. Plenty of water, fruits and veggies is what I do.Love summer because I eat out of the garden and very little meat or starch. We post some of the teams the most glad you are there.     Everyone wants a quick fix, but you are right-exercise and eat right! It is harder than the quick fix, but worth it, because you are healthier and will more than likely keep the weight off by doing it the right way- a lifestyle change! Like SP says! emoticon

    Typically, people want a short cut or a miracle. Well it is hard work and much determination..which I don't seem to have.
