Cheesy, Floury Mess

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

I have been having so much fun with food lately! I have been cooking and trying new things! My goal is to try and incorporate more veggies into my meals. Last night, I made a dish with whole wheat pasta, tomatoes, onions, and green peppers. It wasn't the best...but it was pretty good!!!
Tonight was interesting. I decided to make "skillet pizza". The recipe seemed simple enough...mix ingredients for dough, flatten out, put in skillet and cook and then add toppings. What I ended up with was floury bread/crust that looked nothing like a pizza! First off, I didn't have the right equipment...I don't have a food processor and some of my ingredients were a bit...different than what was called for. I figured I could improvise...
It tasted okay, but I would call it "Cheesy, floury mess" I ate it, but it wasn't pizza.

Even though it wasn't the greatest I still had fun making it! Thank goodness my fiance is working nights for a while...I don't think I would be brave enough to try some of the stuff I had on him...

All in all, it has been a fun process and I am really learning how to cook for the first time. I know not all my stuff will come out fabulous (take my cheesy mess for example) but I am having a great time experimenting! Who knows, maybe someday I won't need the cookbook and my "skillet pizza" will be exactly that!!!
