I'm not the best at blogging but figured it's been a month I would give an update a try. The watching my calories just wasn't working for me. I was hungry all the time and miserable. So I made a dr appointment at the end of July he ordered blood work and I followed up with him on Aug 1st. Thyroid was fine, all sugar and cholesterol lvls were good as well. We decided for me to try atkins for the weight loss phase as I took him all my sparkpeople food trackers and fitness trackers he said I was doing really well but I didn't need to be miserable. I met with a dietician for atkins and was given some books. I showed her everything from here and she said to keep tracking the nutrition part but lower the carbs allowed for induction. So I've been doing the atkins for 8 days now and I have to say I do feel alot better! I'm not as hungry all the time and I've even kicked my daily cokes and have moved to coke zero. I only allow myself one or two a day as they say no more than 3. Once I get within 10 pounds of my goal we will slowly work my body over from the low carb to the counting carb way so that I don't have to do low carb for life. ( I do miss the carbs still; not going to lie there!) I was a little nervous at first as I'm obsessed with the scale (yes I know I shouldn't be but I can't help it) and I gained 2.8 pounds back the first 3 days then I guess ketosis kicked in b/c since then I've gone down to where I was plus 1.8 pounds.
I do miss the new recipes I was making from sparkpeople but I know I'll be able to go back to them once I'm close to my goal.
On a fitness note I've been suffering from a bad sinus infection so the past few days I've only walked about every other day about 24mins a day. I know I need to increase it to at least 30 but I have a weak back and the most I can handle right now is the 1.25 miles which is frustrating b/c I've been walking now for about a month and started at 1/2 mile and it seems from the posts I've read ppl are walking way more than I've been able to work up to. Seems like I'm falling behind in the fitness part, but I keep trying.
