Nice Saturday

Saturday, August 13, 2011

I actually got a full night's sleep last night since we slept in. It was supposed to rain last night and today so we had decided we were not going to my MIL's house thus we felt we didn't need to get up. It didn't rain so we ended up leaving at 11:30 to go to her house after all. We got there and it sprinkled a little but hubby was able to mow the yard.

My son had to work. He is assistant manager now and loves his job.

On the way there we stopped in this tiny town near my home town to get some burgers to take home and freeze. They are a tradition in my area. My mother ate 5 hamburgers at this place the night before I was born. I loved the place as a little girl. We always buy 24. This is a url about the place - the comments are rather interesting. People either love them or hate them.

I visited with my MIL's neighbor ladies who are really interesting to talk to. MILs best friend served me caramel rooibos tea.

We bought a mini Nutter Butter Blizzard for a treat on the way home. We had a chef salad for supper.

Hubby and I took a nice walk and sat in the swing.

I like that last part - hubby and you took and nice walk and sat in the swing. You don't see that every day. Cherish it! I'm grateful to have a sweet hubby that spends time like that with me too :)

You slept, I didn't. Was still awake at 3:30 and got up at 6. Just doesn't cut it.

Never had that tea, sounds good.

Glad to hear you had a great day. My whole family loves burgers - it's the one meal neither my daughter or I get sick of! LOL

There was just an article on NPR about the fact that what your mother ate when you were in the womb shapes your food preferences. No wonder you like their burgers and I like pickles.

I'm so glad you were able to sleep in and relax a bit. Even the day at MIL didn't sound too stressful. How was the caramel rooibos tea?
I have to admit that after avoiding DQ for years and years, I have had 2 mini blizzards this summer! LOL

I am so very glad that you and hubby are able to enjoy the weekend and that it is somewhat cooler. It is so nice to be able to sleep in, relax, spend some time with your late MIL's friends, and just have a nice all-around day. Congrats on your son's promo to assistant manager! As far as burgers go, my folks use to take us to White Castle for the mini-burgers and boy were they good. But alas, we don't have any near by. The newest burger joint is 5 Guys and Fries. Bigger burgers, fries, and roasted peanuts in the shell as well as all types of condiments and drinks. It's a great place but pricey and if you're allergic to nuts, it's definitely not a place to eat or order out from. I believe you can get hot dogs there as well but it's been so long since I had a burger there, I forgot! emoticon

Glad you could have a nice resting day.
The burgers sound good. The Blizzard too.
I love to make chef salad. I get carried away and add lots of items.

Yum those burgers sound good. Apparently the reviews are about the prices going up, but just about every store has raised their prices recently. Sounds like it is still a local fav in your area.
I hope you have a great rest of the weekend!
