College

My daughter is leaving for college tomorrow. I don't know how I feel yet, some anxiety and some happiness for her. I don't know how I will act once we unload her stuff into her room etc. I just pray and believe. I know she is a smart girl and will make sound decisions and we are still here to help when she needs it.

Hey MOM, expect lots of emotions. It's okay.

You raised her up right and she will be fine. Trust her and trust your parenting and let go and let God.

A transition and growing time for both you and her! Imagine she is both frightened and excited at the change, but you both will survive. It's part of life and what our children do, grow, mature, learn, and move on. It's what we trained them to do.

ps, I love your sentiment that "she is a smart girl and will make sound decisions and we are still here to help when she needs it. " I'll remind myself of that. I'm definitely not up for watching any movies or TVs shows that highlight wild teenage, college, or young adult behavior!

Mine leaves in a couple weeks, but I got a small taste this summer as she was a camp counselor, living in a different state. The first time she left, I couldn't let her drive herself -- I had to take her. She came home one weekend, and I survived letting her drive off into the sunset.

So funny - she is home now for 2 weeks, and I confess, I am missing my solitude.
