Day 234: Just More of the Same, Really

Monday, August 22, 2011

It being Monday, it was grocery day. Then I spent an hour or so working on cleaning the upholstered furniture in the LR - which must've worked pretty well, as Himself noticed.

After lunch it was back out to the yard - not so much that 'shows' today, as it was basically raking up leaves and small branches that have accumulated for the last couple of years. (What can I say? I'm an extraordinarily lazy gardener - I like to see neat yards and flowers, I don't like to mess with them.)

Tomorrow - or the next sunny day; 'they say' it may rain tomorrow - we're going to try cleaning up the fish pool. It's fairly sizable. I'll try to remember to do the before-and-after pictures.

The pool is a solid green from duckweed. We have no fish anymore - used to have a dozen or more large koi (carp - tho they looked like ordinary goldfish to me) - and fish eat duckweed, so there wasn't a problem. Plus we had a very good filtering system in it. The last of the fish died, oh, a few years ago now, and the filter needs a new pump, so the duckweed has taken over. We're going to skim it, but we have to be careful not to 'overclean' it, or the pool will become loaded with algae. If it ain't one thing--! Anybody out there who still wonders why I want a nice, neat, tidy little apartment, preferably with a balcony? lol...

That's me done. I've got just about a half-hour to try chasing the trail of a Civil War veteran.

Goodnight, Sparklers, wherever you are!

I think i should get a goat coz at the moment my lawn is about a foot long,i have 2 mowers a hover and wheeled one with metal blades but if the grass is to long it just cuts out.every time i go to cut it as you know it rains, but of course when i was in hospital we had lovely weather, and my otherhalf does not do gardens ever since i caught him pulling flowers out that he thought were weeds.mind i can remember when we got Diesel the bearded collie, the people we got him from lived in a barn convertion and kept him outside they had a large pond with that green algi and his coat was a lime green colour and it was mattered to hell.

They do make these solar fountains that look nice and keep the water moving which helps keep algae at bay. Shame on you, being a lazy gardener---LOL---that is why I do raised beds---less work!
