Re-Sparking it, need the help.

Coming back to Spark to help me reach the rest of my goals. I've been a Spark member for years, active off & on, I need to stay active and not get sidetracked. Joining some challenges and being active will hopefully give my that extra edge I need.

The weight is slowly creeping back on from my 'big' weight loss last year, and I want to lose more not gain. So I am searching inside myself to find out why and work on changing my bad habits. My biggest challenge is mindless eating, or feeling like I have to eat, it's like I can't just sit and read or watch TV without having something to eat. Not sure why, but this is definitely a issue. So I've got my notebooks and self help books back out so I can assess and correct, if I don't make progress on my own I'm considering seeing a counselor.

I've joined my first challenge, tracking my miles walked, ran, or biked through the end of the year. The exercise part I can do, I'm afraid to join a nutrition challenge as that is my weakness.

Okay, Let's do this emoticon

Wellll okay, thank you, you are all right, I need to challenge myself like I did my exercise routines and change it to nutrition. I am so afraid, I guess I need to look at it like the bicycle challenge I just had (rode over 3 mtn passes in 3 days) and take the nutrition in that light. So I am off to check my teams out and see which nutrition challenge I will do first. Oh and thanks so much for the water bottle suggestion, I'll give that a try right now.

I've got to remember my new mantra "I am in training for Me".

Actually, it seems to me that joining a nutritional challenge may just be the ticket for you. After all, that IS what you need most help with! Don't be afraid that you won't hit your goal, there's nothing that says you can't re-do a challenge, first of all. Secondly, you'll find lots of support from people going through very much the same issues as you, so nobody will fault you for having a tough time. Really, truly learning a new habit to the point where it become automatic takes a long time and constant repetition.

Thirdly, you'll get lots of hints and tricks from your team members about how to overcome the issues that are keeping you from licking the challenge. If you already KNEW how to do it, where would the challenge be? emoticon I think sometimes we allows ourselves to be misled into thinking that "challenge" really means "competition", and it shouldn't.

No matter what happens, we'll still be here to help you get back on the wagon and make progress. emoticon

Joining an easy nutrition challenge may be just what you need: it will make you more accountable to more than one person: yourself. when you put yourself on that line, you are more apt to keep it...or at least try to keep it. I know what you mean about the nutruition part, thats my biggest problem. i really struggle with it...constantly. so i think ill take some of THATGIRL7's advice as well: join a nutrition challenge.

good luck with your challenge.....and welcome back! we are here to support and help...and talk to....

Congrats for coming back, this is what you need to do!

Aw, I know, losing weight is not easy. I also have been an on & off member. What I really think is that you need to have that little change of way of thinking in your head so you can know how and why you are losing the weight.

But you already lost weight, you know how it work, right? All you need to do is getting whose healthy habits back.

When you are in front of TV, what you should do is bring a water bottle with you. It seems silly, but when you feel like you need to hand on something, if it's not the food, then you're going to have extra water! Probably you'll be more likely to feel less "hungry" than not eat because you are taking water instead. It works well for me!

Don't be afraid to try nutrition challenges. Maybe you should aim for an easy one. For the second one, try it to be a bit "harder". Maybe it will help you.
