Eating Out...I've had enough!

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

My rant for the daily is that we've been eating out WAAYYY too much lately! I don't have a good education yet on what healthier alternatives are to eating out, so I am still making poor decisions. I don't even feel good though after eating out all the time. Tomorrow we are going out of town for 3 days, and I intend to do my research to make better decisions.

I find that when I go out to dinner with the family that there is never anything healthy to eat. The salads that restaurants make have just as many calories as a burger. I found a few restaurants near me that have decent alternatives (not as good as cooking myself but decent). I'm not sure what's around you but we have Ruby Tuesdays and J & R's steak house. Basically most restaurants that are "grills" (bar & grill) seem to serve plain grilled chicken and I usually ask for steamed broccoli (no butter) and lemons on the side. I do not like restaurants because I can have grilled chicken and broccoli at home, but my husband's family only gathers around food and not activity so I am the "odd ball".

    Good Luck!

I'm on the road a Miss "DirtyBunny" says, I spend time looking at menus on line and planning ahead as best I can.

I also try to have a snack, like a banana before going helps me not get there starving. I also try to drink a glass of water before ordering....helps me feel a little fuller

    good luck!

Your last line says it all. Once you get used to checking out menus online for restaurants before you even step in the door, you're home free. It will give you a feeling of control over what is going to happen to your body that you haven't had before--and it feels good!

It is ALWAYS harder to stay on target when I eat out. I just always try to stick with grilled chicken and veggies. But it is hard.
