The Devil's Nails

Friday, September 23, 2011

I didn't get much sleep last night. Hubby grumbled that by the time he gets back from feeding Reek I am always asleep and he's right, I usually am, so I made an effort to stay awake last night and watch some TV with him. At bedtime he ended up stubbing his toe and tore another toe nail off. I wear house shoes but my son and hubby won't. It does little good to lecture them. At any rate the toenail-mangle started a rant about the lack of progress settling his mother's estate. You know how warped men are. One has nothing to do with the other but at any rate I understand his frustration and tried to sooth the savage beast. It was just about as effective as trying to pet a Tasmanian Devil. Taz had no part of it. My window of opportunity to sleep passed and I ended up unable to sleep most of the night.

It was in the upper 40s this morning and I did not want to get up. We are having a lot of fog. I stayed in bed until the last possible moment then had to rush to get breakfast made, Reek fed, and my bath. Hubby helped me get things set up in the pole barn for laundry. My son was off and we did 6 loads.

We also had to clean the 6 pets cages too. Reek and Porkie live alone and are needy and they get cold so I bought Reek a cloth tent for his cage and Porkie a cloth house and they sleep in them. Today they needed washed and they don't like their bags to be taken away so I have to wash them quickly and get them back ASAP. Reek was trying to get in his while I was still hanging it and he was shoving me away with his little foot. LOL.

My son and I ended up vacuuming and cleaning the bath too and then I had my outdoor chores to do and 2 more meals to fix. So I had a full day and I'm wiped out.

For those who asked what new shows we have watched - We watched "Unforgettable" and they lied. I can forget it. LOL. I didn't bond with the characters. I watched "Revenge" and it was better. "Charlie's Angels" - was goofy. "Person of Interest" - hubby and I both liked it - the most of any of the new ones. "Prime Suspect" - I thought it was okay - hubby didn't care for it. And A Gifted Man - it was okay to me. Hubby thought it was hokey.

The sun came out some but we had thunder and rain off and on. The hummers are thinning out. A turtle must have came and ate today but I missed it.

I understand barefoot. The first thing I do when I get home is shed the shoes. I just feel too confined. I will wear fleece-lined slippers when it's cold, but that's it.

" trying to pet a Tasmanian Devil". I can so relate to this! Hope you feel well rested now. I am willing to bet that your husband will not change his habits and continue to walk around barefoot. Why do I bet? Becuase my boyfriend does the same thing and never learns.

You certainly have your hands full! I don't wear shoes in the house, but always socks, which I guess aren't too protective. I lost a toenail once by backing a vacuum into it. Ouch! Hope he feels better soon, and the critters are well and cooperative.

I was so surprised when we came to the US that so many people do not wear shoes. We had concrete floors in our British homes and boy they were cold so we always had shoes on our feet. I shudder when I see people riding bicycles in bare feet. I just do not get it. Feet are precious I protect mine.
I must admit they are very sensitive, I cannot bear to stand on grass or sand in my bare feet.
Sorry this estate business is causing your family so much anguish. I wish it was all over as I know you all do. Let it be SOON.

Ouch! That makes me winch! Oh good gravy! My emoticon goes out to your hubby. I stubbed my thumbnail into the ground trying to hook up the beagle onto his chain when I lived at home many years ago. I went to hook him up and he rabbited standing on his hind legs and then jerked the day lights outta me. I didn't let go otherwise he would have been gone for quite a while. When I fell my glasses came off and my head just missed the cement patio by inches. The nail didn't come out but there was some dirt in there that partially separated the nail from the nail bed. I can't begin to tell you the pain I had! And of all days it was good Friday. I was waiting for a call from very good friends and didn't want the beagle to howl and bark to go outside when the call came. But needless to say, I don't remember if they ever called or if I just missed it while moaning & groaning on the ground. That was before answering machines.

And you are right, one thing doesn't have anything to do with the other but men are like that sometimes.

Hope you get caught up on your zees! Take care GF! Have a better weekend! emoticon
