The Power of the Booth - VICTORY!

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Two years ago, Old Spaghetti Factory opened its first restaurant in our city. Hubby and kids and I hurried down there for dinner, anxious to try them out. The kids were extra excited to get to eat in the trolley car.

We requested a booth in the trolley car, and the kids and hubby scooted right in, while I eyed the booth with a mixture of trepidation and determination, and the waitress asked if we'd rather have a table. I wasn't going to disappoint the kids by chickening out. I was going to sit in that trolley car booth. I took a deep breath and squeezed all 347 lbs of me into the booth. It was uncomfortable to say the least. My belly hung over the table and it hurt to breathe, and it was embarrasing, but I endured.

Fast forward to last night...hubby and I had a date night and decided to eat at Old Spaghetti Factory before our concert. The waitress asks us to follow her and proceeds to lead us to the trolley car booths. I literally broke out into a sweat. LOL Can't she tell I won't fit in the trolley car booths? I took a deep breath and prepared to squeeze my now 246.5 lb body into the booth, and the unthinkable happened. I slid into the booth with over 3 inches between me and the table.

I was so surprised and elated that I started giggling! The waitress looked at me funny, and took our drink orders, but my husband, with a huge smile on his face, quietly said "Little things like this are going to sneak up on you for quite awhile, aren't they? I'm so proud of you."

Yes, Sparkfriends, they are. But, I can check one of those sneaky things off my list...Victory over the trolley car booth!
