Hi:
I lost 11 lbs from February to the end of September, but from October 1 till now, I've lost another 11 lbs - just by stopping dinner meals and having a can of slim fast, a v-8 veg juice, and either an apple or fat free or sugar free pudding or lite yogurt. I'm a leader in our church's "Celebrate Recovery" group, and I introduce myself as a compulsive over-eater. I challenged another leader (male) to partner with me in an "October Fast," meaning the dinner change, and I now plan to continue this past October. Basically cutting down to two normal meals a day. I also exercise by walking down a long hill (and back) to get the mail every day with our golden retriever, Jake. I also do light weight lifting and floor exercises. I've dropped a pants size already, and hope never again to wear a man's 44. Goal is to get back to a size 38 waist. Any encouragement would be appreciated - blessings, Larry

    emoticon on YOUR weight lose , slim fast can be part of a healthy diet depending on your other meals , food tracker should be able to help you with them. I wish you success on your journey.

    Hi Larry, and congratulations for your weight loss and for being a leader in your church program. Over-eating is definitely an addiction, just as much as is alcohol or drugs, I believe. Reading through the other comments on your blog, I would maybe suggest that you talk to your doctor about whether Slim Fast is a healthy alternative.

    Great job!

    But please consider a different meal instead of a meal replacement drink. My surgeon was NOT surprised to hear that I was replacing lunches with Slim Fast when I developed gall bladder disease at a young age. Gall bladder disease helped me lose even more weight than the Slim Fast drinks because of the intense pain and uncontrolled vomiting --- my gallbladder surgery scar is a real reminder. I look super thin in my sister's wedding pictures but that's NOT a lifestyle. Please be careful!

    Hi Larry,
    You can DO this! My hubby and I drink a SlimFast shake EVERY night instead of a regular meal. We were both needing to lose weight and at our age, we sleep so much better because we don't go to bed with a tummy full of regular food. I have lost 25 pounds since Jan. and he has lost about 20 pounds. We also are trying to eat healthier and lighter meals plus working out at the gym three times a week. The weight is coming off very slowly but we can see a big difference in our clothes. Hubby is losing most of his from his tummy, which is right where he needed to lose. It's all a matter of making up your mind to do it and then sticking to it. Come on Larry, you can do it, too!
