Day 4 Of Doing What Works For Me........

If you are reading this blog now and didn't read yesterday's, you might want to check that one first. It gives you the background for this blog.
Today I emptied the cupboard above the refrigerator, washed it inside and out, removed the old shelf liner, painted the interior walls, re-lined the shelf, sorted and cleaned all of the cookbooks, and put them back when the paint was dry. I have 47 cookbooks!!!!! What I did to add more exercise to this activity was to remove one book at a time and place it on the kitchen counter for cleaning........then back on the ladder to get another book, etc., etc. Up and down the ladder for each and every book. Plus up and down for the cleaning, re-lining, painting, etc.. My legs are feeling it tonight! While I was waiting for the paint to dry so I could put the cookbooks back, I did 2 loads of wash and instead of drying the clothes in the dryer, I hung them outside. This meant even more walking and bending and lifting. Our oldest son was here this afternoon to work on a project in our garage, so I also made him lunch and carried it out to our furthest garage. By now I am sure that you see what I am trying to accomplish. I am actually trying to add steps instead of saving them while still accomplishing what I want to each day. I will continue to do this until it doesn't work for me anymore and then I will change things up.

    This is what healthy living is all about! Making those everyday tasks more active is a great way to get exercise, get things accomplished, and most importantly - to NOT burn out! Congratulations and keep it up! (P.S. I need my cupboards cleaned and painted if you run out of things to do!)

    Good job! I am with you on adding the steps. Being that I am 4 ft. 10-1/2 in., almost ANYTHING I do in the kitchen requires me to get my step stool to reach something! Used to hate it . . . now I LOVE it.

    You have really been working like a demon! Glad you son was there helping with a project.

    I am most successful when I view working at home like a job. I haven't been doing this recently though. When you go to work, work starts at a certain time, breaks are usually at a certain time and then there is quitting time.

    I am a stay-at-home wife. There is plenty that needs doing, but I stay up all night and then doze/nap during the day and I need to stop it.

    When I work in my house doing chores, I really get a lot done and it gives me a wonderful sense of satisfaction. Heavy cleaning really burns up a lot of calories too.
