A Spot Of Tea

Saturday, November 05, 2011

It was really foggy this morning. My son had to work the early shift today so I didn't get to sleep in. I made breakfast and lunch for all 3 of us when I first got up. Hubby fed Reek and gave the others a snack and then spot cleaned the pet cages. I did a few chores and my son left for work.

Hubby and I got ready to go to my MIL's. He had to wrestle the air compressor into the back seat of the Mustang and take some tools as we were going to winterize her house. We stopped to get some antifreeze and some gas and we were on our way.

Hubby had a challenging time and it was difficult to get the pipes cleared of water. He emptied the water heater, winterized the toilets and drains, drained the water softener, and drained the hoses to the washer. We were there all day and ran out of time and will have to do the dishwasher, ice maker, and finish the washer later on.

I visited with my MIL's best friend Ruth and she made me some tea. It was the best tea I've ever had and was from her son's shop, The Attic, in Green Bay Wisconsin. It was orange cinnamon spice tea. Orange spice tea is my favorite anyway but this was the best.

My MIL has the most beautiful roses and I cut some buds and brought them home.

We got Blocker out for a while. She was nervous. We gave her a big piece of fruit though and she loved it.

I know that has to be some chore winterizing a home. That is probably a big load off of his mind with that part done and out of the way.

And it's so nice that your late MIL's neighbor is so hospitable.

I love hot teas too. And the orange spice is great. My favorite it the peach-ginger tea. I love ginger & also peach. emoticon

Good of you to winterise the house if nobody is occuping it - the cleaning lady at work had her pipes freeze Thursday night ( I am sure I will hear ALL about it tomorrow emoticon - once she gets her mouth in gear there is no stopping her.

I'm from California so don't know about 'draining' all those pipes...what a job that must be. What a lucky lady to have such a great son to help her! He sounds like a keeper.

I too had a spot of tea at the end of a very 'out-of-sorts' afternoon...it made everything 'O.K.'

It's hard trying to drain the pipes for winter. Hope that the house sells quickly.

One of my good friends lives in Green Bay. I might have to shoot her a phone call and ask her to send me some of that tea!

Another busy day! When will you be able to put MILs house for sale?? It's hard enough to take care of one property!! I've never been much of a tea drinker (except for iced). I always thought I would like to drink tea (sounds like a very refined and adult thing to do). I don't dislike hot tea, just never developed a real taste. I got all of my windows washed yesterday!! YAY!! I can see outside again! Going to try to bring in some of the porch furniture today. It's cold but beautiful out there today!

That was a long day, it takes us a while for the small RV. You must use gallons of antifreeze in it. Does that mean you can leave it with no heat on in the winter?.
We have to jump through hoops to leave the house for just a month in the winter but we never drain pipes or use antifreeze What a job that has to be!!!

I was raised on black hot tea. I thought I would love it for ever but. Taste buds have changed and I cannot drink it. I must try the Orange tea because i do like the lemon zinger tea. I do not take any sugar or honey or sweetener in tea. I tried Truvia and it will be a long time getting used to that too. Hot water with Lemon is now my go to tea.Black loose tea is good too, just hard to find.
Glad Blocker ate her fruit, I hope she can stay out and get used to being out with you all. HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Orange spice tea sounds really good. I have got to try that!
I usually only drink green matcha tea because it is so invigorating, but I should spread my wings a little with different teas, there are so many!
