This is a Marathon, NOT a Sprint!

The last 30 days have been tough! Not only was my birthday last month (October), but also about a million other close friends and family members. Not to mention that about mid October I had to quit boot camp due to injuries and there you have it! A recipe for disaster!

I believe one of the reasons I became injured was because I JUMPED into HIIT training. Who wouldn't, right? It promises and delivers fast results in half the time. But the reality is, I didn't gain weight in 6 months or even a year. More like over the course of 12 years. So why on earth was I trying to lose it in less time than that?

This healthy journey is just that-a JOURNEY, a Marathon! 26.3 miles divided into birthdays, anniversaries, adversities, vacations, holidays, injuries, triumphs, and cold, blue winter days that not even purple can heal.

But you know what? Yesterday in 32 degree temperature, I did an 18 minute mile! My first mile in a month! Wow, look at me. Yeah, I know that I can do better, that I have done better, and that I WILL do better, but doing that mile after having some days over this last month when I could barely walk, was such a joy. And it reminded me, that time doesn't REALLY matter. Just as long as you reach your destination, And who knows, maybe one day, after I've fully recovered (if that ever happens), I can Sprint towards the finish line....

    Yes, I love it! You'll also be ready to run a marathon in no time. Slow and steady wins the race! If it takes 10 years so be it, as long as you reach the finish line.
