New Year, New State, New Start
Tuesday, January 03, 2012
Well its an under statement to say that I've been MIA from Sparkpeople recently. I've undergone a lot of changes in the last few months of 2011. Some good, New promotion at work, transfer to Vermont (closer to my family), new guy... and some not so good, Freezing my tail off, gaining 15 lbs, increased stress level and lower activity level.
I made a cross country move from San Diego to Northeast Vermont during the Thanksgiving holiday and it seemed that the before I knew it, it was Christmas time!I hadn't even unpacked half of my house and I was trying to get Christmas presents bought, decorations up and plan for a trip to see my family, now only 12 hours away by car, all while learning the ropes at my new job and trying to fill in all the voids that were left by my predecessor.
Now that the New Year has started I feel as if things have calmed down enough for me to get back into the swing of things in regards to my health and fitness. Aside from a major work deadline looming just a week away, I feel as though I've really got a good hold on things compared to this time last month.
I have always enjoyed taking fitness classes and was pleasantly surprised to find that the local Wellness Center has a cardio kickboxing class one time a week and a early morning spinning class three times a week that I can attend! My new work location has a pretty decent gym with a lot of machines and free weights so if I combine the fitness classes, weight training and my treadmill at home I should be in pretty good shape for the winter freeze. I've tried running outside but I have to admit, I'm definitely not coordinated enough to run in the snow especially since there aren't any sidewalks near my house.
Well more on that later. I have to get back to the job! Just wanted to share a little of the New Year news!
