Too fat to shop....

When my son was 2 months old, I swore off maternity pants and went out to buy myself a pair of jeans I didn't have muffin-top in. I spent $70 on a fabulous pair of jeans from Ricki's and I may have worn them 6 out of 7 days a week! Not even a month and a half later, I felt a draft on the inside of one thigh. You guessed it! My thighs burned out my jeans and I could have cried. I'm not sure what sucked more---wasting my money or knowing that size 16 couldn't hold me in!
Instead of spending more money on clothes that, let's face it, are not in my desired size as my body is still not back down to my pre-baby weight, I decided to visit the Good Will and Value Village. The result--$26 and I managed to find 4 pairs of jeans in size 15-16---and they actually look great! It's been a boost to my self-esteem, not to mention my pocket book! 2 pairs from GAP, 1 pair from Old Navy and 1 pair of Calvin Kleins.
Being on maternity leave means I need to be more frugal with my spending---especially now that I was forced to replace my paid-off mazda when it started burning oil and am looking at 6 years of bi-weekly car payments again. :(
I've learned something interesting during this experience. As I begin to work toward my weigh-loss goals, I know now that I can still take pride in my appearance without having to put myself into debt on transitional jeans! Maybe other people can join in the savings, too!
